Mountain Biking

Just been out to Norwood edge near Otley.

A couple of red routes and a couple of black. Didn't bother looking at the trail map board and went down a straight track then up the down part of the black thinking it was just the black route which was rubbish! oops

Then went down a proper red from the start and loved it. Huge rush at the bottom and almost ran with my bike up the track back to the start :D

I didn't attempt the black as the red was hard enough. Maybe next time

Stainburn is decent, been up there a few times, black is good pretty damn technical feels like one long rockgarden with a couple wooden features stuck in, the black dosnt flow very well though, reds are a good laugh.
All a bit short though, great if you are out for a quick blast but dont think you could spend all day there.

Done some Downduroing today, started off pee'ing down and turned into a brilliant day at Aston - packed to the rafters because of the race tomorrow.

It really is brutal. I'm assuming gee will be racing today, haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise.
Was at Rostrevor during the week and manned up enough to try one of the dh runs. Wayyyyy too much nope for my peanut sized man jewels.

Wow, interesting start to the season..

Gwin smoked everyone..
First podiums for Jones and Dale
Excellent result for Ratboy all things concidered..
Procore not really helping some (doing a Gwin wasn't really happening on this course either)
Gutted for Tracey
Wasn't really a lot of big names weekends..

Regarding the DH;

Track looked great, some really horrible looking crashes.
Felt bad for Tracy Hannah as she seemed to be on a pretty hot run.
Men's coverage was spoiled hugely by having such limited footage of Gwin's run & they didnt play it without slo-mo?
It quickly became apparent that nobody was going to come close to him & it became a formality just to watch the top ten qualies come down.

Loic messed up quite bad up top and still managed 2nd, very impressive. His win is comming this year fo shizzle. Mike jones is doing incredible too, I can see Joe Smith jumping from nukeproof soon as he will always be a bridesmaid there!

anyone else think gwin time helped by course getting worse as the day went on?

I think that helped, obviously we havnt seen this mythical 2nd section that he blew everyone away on but for sure the track was getting so blown out toward the end, did you see the line he took through that last turn before the bridge drop, he didnt so much use it as a berm, he blew through it pushed over the top of it and pretty much made as straight a line as he could have, almost taking the course tape and pole with him, easily fastest i had seen anyone go through it.
I cant say what would have been, with Loic messing up the first corner and Gee injured, but i think even if Gwin had come down towards the end i think he would have made the podium easily, probably would have still won, but i dont think the margin would have been quite so large.

I dont think it helped him going earlier, if anything it would have been harder as you dont have any good times to beat! He bossed it by nearly 4 seconds, no one was beating him on that day, well maybe if hill wasnt injured ;-)

Gee atherton got a top 50 with a broken wrist on one of the gnarliest tracks ever, unreal.
