Mountain Biking

I must say regarding disc brakes, most of the ones I have owned have needed very little maintenance past the odd change of pads. No specific cleaning or annual re-bleeds, pretty much fit & forget.

If mine start to squeel I simply assume there's some muck in there & continue to ride as normal, they go back to normal as the braking wears the muck & grime away.

I know my mate, Spud, on here had no end of trouble with a set of Formulas a while back. They were useless right off the bat and nothing seemed to be able to sort them out.

Let us know how you get on Dunks.

Realigned them to the rotor again this morning, with the inner pad closer to the rotor to reduce the flex from when the outer pad actuates and it seems so have almost removed the noise. Still need a bit of bedding in though I think with respect to braking power.

Next on my list is mudguards. Getting peppered with mud / muddy water from a tiny puddle is quite annoying. Is the Topeak Defender M1 and M2 set good for £24? Most reviews point to them being good

Just bought a mucky nutz one for £8 so I don't look like a ***** with fairy liquid written on it :p was hoping it I'd in on time for my trip to torridon but sadly not. Now seem to be going without spare pads which doesn't seem like a good idea! Might pop to halfords and at least grab a set of Clarks pads.

I just use a front fork fender, Marsh Guard or Mucky Nuts as already recommended. You just have to man up with regards to the muck & wet, doesn't matter how many guards you put on, you will get wet & muddy regardless. As long as you stop the constant spray off the front wheel you should be good to go.

Make your own (muckynutz style) from a washing detergent bottle and zip ties. Save yourself £22 :D

Bike worth thousands - check
Troy Lee Helmet & matching gear - check
Enduro approved hydrapack- check
Fairy liquid mudguards - Erm!?

Mucky nuts like the guys above said, well worth it. Or even better now, if you can stomach the name, is the new Enduroguard. It's cut in a way that it covers more.

Forgot all about them while ordering muckynutz, but that name it's not it at all.

Took my cousin to inners the other day, quite incredible seeing him after the first descent "that was incredible" kid had a big stupid grin for ages! Now talking about what bike he's getting when he gets a job. Good lad.

What's different about this?
