Mountain Biking

Thanks for the replies, not so bad then - was expecting worse.

If it's hollowtech threaded, it's a really easy job if you have all the tools.

Also Gwin! Feel so bad for Minnaar. What a crap outcome for him. Looking forward to champs, it's so open theres nobody I would say would guarantee a win here. I'm hoping Minaar or Hart, but well it's been so close all season it's anybodys.

Standard threaded or hollow tech BB's are ok, I don't think I'd want to deal with a press fit BB either, tbh.

I recently bought a new aluminium frame, the carbon version wasn't that much more expensive relatively speaking but it was press fit.. Hell no.

It's an evolutionary dead end, a bit like the panda.

Bit of an awkward crash today has pretty much written off my fullface, no real damage to me other than a slightly banged up knee and an achy shoulder, but a helmet that has seen better days prior to crash is pretty much ready to be retired.
So i thought time to replace it, after having a look around, I think i've settled on something i like the look of, I'd love a TLD D3 or Fox Rampage Carbon, but both are plain and simply too much of a stretch budget wise, so I had a look about and decided to give the Proframe a go, its caught my eye a few times recently, love the idea of a nice airy comfortable all day fullface with solid protection.

I've just received my first Full face Helmet. Didn't want to go all out for my first lid so bought myself a nice looking 661 Full Face from CrC at the bargain price of £47. It arrived last week and it fits an absolute beauty!

I had the 7idp which is effectively the same helmet design with a different paint job, absolutely cracking helmet for the money, a little bit warm when wearing for extended periods, but it's still an awesome lid for the price.

Let us know how you get on with the proframe, it's getting great reviews.

Though my Bell hasn't been hugely crashed in yet, so probably stay a while.

Initial impressions from first ride. Cant believe its so light. Its nice comfortable and airy, lots of ventilation, more so than my 7IDP M2 trail lid, i found myself just leaving the lid on during sections where i'd take the old Fullface off, loving the funky strap clip, makes doing it up one handed on the move so much easier. All in all very impressed so far

Some guy on the Bird FB Group done Ard Rock in one, the whole route. Quite impressive.

Went to go a local XC ride today, my knobs have literally ripped off my minions! Time for a new one, feel like I'm spending a fortune on tyres recently!

Don't suppose anyone here is planning to do this? https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/159784/Snowdonia-s-EPIC-MTB-Challenge-

I've signed up for the 50k despite not having ridden that far in ages and only just coming back from a very low mileage couple of months :o 25k just didn't feel like enough of a challenge to warrant paying to ride exactly the routes I ride every other weekend! Will just have to take it very easy and grind it out towards the end I feel.
