I'm planning on getting a new (or second hand) Bossnut in the coming weeks so hoping to get out moreI probably ride a section of it most weeks. It holds up quite well in winter.

Yes I do and I'll add youAdd me on Strava if you use it.
As someone who owns both a hardtail in that price range (2016 voodoo bizango I picked up for £400 in sale) and a Bossnut Evo unless you are going to be riding mostly trail centres/big mountain descent stuff I'd go with a hardtail.Yes I do and I'll add you
I'm in two minds on whether to get a new hard tail (£500-£600) or stretch to a second hand Bossnut Evo, its mainly trail riding and 10% road but I'm lost with the list of bikes to look at
Can anyone recommend some hard tails in that price range I've got the money in the bank and currently have a 7 year old Specialized Hardrock Sport which I got on the RTW scheme
EDIT: - Vitus Nucleus 275 VRS looks good, but out of stock in large, everywhere
Thanks
Thanks for the detailed replyAs someone who owns both a hardtail in that price range (2016 voodoo bizango I picked up for £400 in sale) and a Bossnut Evo unless you are going to be riding mostly trail centres/big mountain descent stuff I'd go with a hardtail.
The Bossnut is a great bike and at trail centres, uplifts and bombing down snowdon I love it but for mixed cross country riding it's a bit of a pig. Granny gear isn't enough for me, no lockout on the rear shock takes away half your power and the geometry doesn't make climbing or even long rides that comfortable.
The Bizango is fantastic. I've done 3000 miles on it of every type of riding. Done Snowdon 5+ times and sure the Bossnut is more fun coming down but I can ride most of the way up on the Bizango too Done plenty of long days on it including a 71 miler in July loaded with bike packing gear and I never have comfort issues on it. The geometry is spot on for cross country as its more upright but still fine when pointing downhill.
Mine is the older one so it's 2x which I love because the climbing ability is hilarious with the extra gears.
I was going to buy a new hardtail this year but instead I'm just going to upgrade the forks on the Bizango and save myself a grand+
They were £600 at the time I got mine but it was a 20% off weekend and they threw in a £50 gift card if I bought the display model which I duly agreed to as it had just been builtThanks for the detailed reply
The current Voodoo's are £625 not sure I like the reds, darker colors I do prefer, the Trek Marlin 7 look like a nice bike to, think I'm looking more to the hardtails and put a dropper post on it

I'm sure they are all fairly similar at that price. Check the MBR reviews that's what I based the decision to get the Bizango on as iirc it won best hardtail under £750 which for a £400 bike isn't too shabby. Plus I've abused it for 3000 miles and it's only really needed general maintenance
Come to think of it I haven't ridden (or even cleaned) it since that 70 miler in July
Give MTBBAtteries a hollaHoping someone can help. The battery pack in my MagicShine MJ-900 is knackered and I also have a load of good 18650 batteries. Does anybody make a waterproof battery housing for 2 or 4 batteries that allows them to be removed to charge?
I'll take my chances but its a good shout, I'll ask them later todayYou may get stung with import duty/tax buying from the States like that. Just buy a Bizango
Yes I thought as much Rockshox and Hydro brakesThe Vitus Nucleus 275 VRX HT has better forks
I tried the Voodoo yesterday in store, very light and would take some getting used to on the wheel size, brake were very sharp although that’s based on my 6 year old bike which also had disc break but they were cabledI'd try the pair of them and see how you get on. I liked my bizango but not a fan of 29er wheels.
hate to say it, but I think the Voodoo is a better mtb, I think... Air vs coil shock. 1x11 vs 3x9. Shimano brakes vs Tektro, 13.2kg vs 14.35 kgHi Gents
Out of a new Voodoo Bizango (£522ish with discount) or a Trek Marlin 7 2019 (second hand but mint £425) rockshox forks and hydro brakes which would be the best option do we think
thanks!
It came more down to cost at the end of the day, needs the extra cash for a new helmet and some other bitshate to say it, but I think the Voodoo is a better mtb, I think... Air vs coil shock. 1x11 vs 3x9. Shimano brakes vs Tektro, 13.2kg vs 14.35 kg
but, if you tried both and prefer the Trek then ace!, enjoy it.
