Mountain Biking

What's Pinkbike like for selling a bike? Had to give it up due to needing surgery last year after a crash and decided (reluctantly) to sell my full sus :(

It's a Giant Trance 3 with quite a lot of upgrades on it.

Can anyone recommend any padded shorts? I keep looking at some cheapies on amazon/ebay but don't want to get stung with poor ones. I'd like some that won't keep riding up/down if possible so any recommendations would be awesome
it's not just the riding up/down, but cheaper shorts seem to have more abrasive stitching seems - either the location isn't great and rubs on the inside of the thigh, or they're just quite coarse, which also isn't ideal... I've used Endura Hummvee 3/4 shorts for years (I think they usually come with a liner), and Endura MT500 shorts when it's raining. I've also got some Fox Attack and Decathlon baggy shorts. TBH, I don't think I've really had a bad pair of shorts, just make sure to get/use a liner under them, as this has the padding and also acts as a barrier from abrasive seems rubbing in sore places.

I think the only issue I've had with shorts has been the fastening method on the front - poppers on the old Endura shorts can pop open if the shorts are snagged, but a button (or ratchet on the Fox) is far more robust.

Picked up the new Boardman Halfords jobbies a few days ago. Pretty good for £28 and you can remove the padding to use elsewhere

Fitted the Brand-X 150mm dropper post on my Voodoo Bizango today, took me about 30mins and all seems right n tight .... not had a chance to test it as I’m away tomorrow for a week then I’ll give it a test is got some rrp mudguards but didn’t have time to fit them front n back, will do that when I get back too

after some help with post mount brake adaptors...

How do I know what the default disk size the frame is designed for (without needing an adaptor)?

Much as I love the Shan's artwork, a discounted Ragley Blue Pig frame lured me to choose that...
The spec/info on the Ragley site doesn't state a stock disk size, but looking at the images of their complete build ( http://ragleybikes.com/products/blue-pig-complete-bike-2019/ ) it looks like a spacer on the frame's post mount (and it mentions 180mm brakes). So... I'm assuming the frame is 160mm disk and thus I will want a 10mm spacer for 180 disks. Is there a dimension to measure to check (before trying to fit the brakes, as I don't have them yet)?

Also, looking at the adaptors, why are there different front and rear spacers? Looking around various bike websites, the front seem more horizontal and the rear seem to be angled. But, the image on the Ragley website looks flat. Erm... Surely the distance between the holes is the same fork or frame, so why the different shape spacers?

From my experience frames are usually 160mm post mount. So you'll need a PM-PM 180 adaptor. (Unfortunately they;'re out of stock on Superstar) So go for a Shimano one like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shimano-Sp...s=shimano+adaptor&psc=1&qid=1571734363&sr=8-6

I can't explain the different shape spacers but if I were to guess it'll be something to do with the brake offset from the frame, which will determine if the mount is IS or PM. Post Mount (the Shimano I linked) (like the Yari forks on the Blue Pig and the rear brake mount for the frame) will be compatible for front or rear.. The Yari forks are 180mm PostMount so you don't need an adaptor.

Thanks for the recommendations above, ended up getting a Crud XL Defender which looks amazing and made do with a small polypropylene one for the back for now, I’ll see how that works and maybe get something bigger if I end up covered in crud.

The shape difference I'm confused about is this:

front, that looks flat:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shimano-Spares-Adapter-Post-Front/dp/B003LZGU64

rear, that is angled:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aluminium-Adapter-PM-Caliper-compatible/dp/B017D95LPE

They're both PM, not IS (as that's mounted 90°) - so, I'm wondering if theres an offset from the axle centre that's different on a fork to a frame (resulting in the caliper being mounted at a slightly different position around the rotor).

And then, to confuse it more, the PM adaptor on the pre-build Blue Pig shows a front-style flat adaptor, not a rear-style one... I'll just risk a fiver and get a flat one...

I'm going to go out on a whim here and say the following, the "angled" type adaptor was primarily used for older frames. I've not seen them used on any frames in the last few years. however, they may still be used on forks like the Fox40 and Boxxer perhaps??

Tbh its all a guess! You'll be fine with the first link you posted.

Done my first enduro race in three years on the weekend. Managed 17th out of 93 in my age cat. Could have probably gone a little quicker if I hadnt of caught someone up on the last stage, which they didnt move outta the way for :(
