Mountain Biking

I'm so frustrated, I emailed Chain Reactions & Wiggle and neither of them accept the cycle2work voucher via Halfords :(

So it looks like I'm locked to Halfords & Tredz for which bike I can get

I have upped my budget to £1,800 and had my heart set on a Vitus Mythique VRX
Back to square one again

edit: any thoughts/comments on the boardman mtr 8.9 specs look decent

Any thoughts on the 8.9 Boardman people :)

Brother in law has one I think. Has found it good, it's stable on the rough stuff but gets a bit of a handful when it really gets steep.
Rims aren't the most durable either, so if you ride quite heavy on the rear wheel you may want to consider tubeless and an insert.
It's also not a light bike!

I kid, we reserve that contempt for those damn ebikers :p
Hey, I resemble that remark! :p

I've finally been able to buy a new drivetrain for my Levo to replace the 11 speed SRAM. Just as well too as the chain slipped under torque the other day.
I've been trying to get the new Shimano Linkglide for a while, but in 10 speed. Managed to get the cassette and derailleur from Slam69 in the UK and the shifter(without display) and chain from Bikediscount in Germany. Had to add some extra items to bring the basket total up before they would accept the order though so ended up adding a new ergon prime saddle and a topeak digital shock pump as well.

[edit] Nope. Slam69 just emailled to say they dont expect stock until Jan 2023 for the mech and no date for the cassette. :( FFS

Interested to know how you get on with that as its the first ebike specific (kinda) drivetrain available to handle the higher loads and strains placed on the drivetrain by you lazy ebikers :p

Its crazy that there are still such parts shortages. I have been upgrading my road bike drivetrain recently and second hand parts are silly. Like 80% of new prices for a used crankset that has probably used 30% of the life of the chainrings.

Lots of smaller bike shops take the halfords vouchers, so maybe best speaking to some of them? Isn't exactly an exciting range at either tredz or halfords in that sort of price range.

Yeah it's a shame you have spend around £170 at bike discount now before they will ship to the UK only for you to then get done with taxes when it arrives. Gone are the cheap tyre days

Looks like they have stock @ Brink of the Marin San Quentin 3 27.5 2022 out of all the bikes I am able to get bar the Rift Zone 1 which they don’t have my size in and the specs aren’t as good as the San Quentin

Think I found why my biggest gears weren't playing ball. Seems a knock at some point bent the B limit screw and it's been chewing into the hanger since.

Came off my bike at bedgeburry yesterday, incredibly loose berm washed me out, I saved it but then went straight into a tree. Suspected sprained wrist, was agony last night :(

Unlucky.

Did have a few sketchy moments myself on the Red Route there last week.

Seems worse near the start with the berms being tighter packed towards the bottom.
