Mountain Biking

Came off my bike last night on a trail I have ridden loads of times before. Pedal strike on a hidden log end, flipped sideways. A lot of blood and bruises, plus collarbone is now in 4 pieces. It hurts so much and at the age of 46, need to give it time to heal properly. Smashed my head but all clear, helmet has done its job well.

Reckon that's all my biking done this year. :(

Sounds like a major ouch.

At 55 I'm starting to focus on going quicker up hills and slower down them!

Hope you mend as quickly as possible.

Oh damn mate, hope you're alright!

Came across a guy yesterday on 50 hits at DyFi.
- 4th time on a bike
- 1st time at dyfi
- 1st run at dyfi
- trying to clear big tabletops...

He got bucked way over the bars and broke his collarbone too. Absolutely **** crack but you gotta build up or stuff goes wrong :(

Speedy recovery mate!

Laid down a pretty solid run on swooper yesterday, knocked off 20+ seconds off my fastest time on it and ticked off some of the features at dyfi I hadn't done yet, like the big wallride at the start of the trails. Watching back there's a few better lines I could take and areas I can refine, so will be working on it :D.

I was mulling over buying myself my first full suspension mountain bike. Does anyone know when the new 2023 season bikes generally drop?

Any recommendations in the £1000-2000 range?

Are the Halfords Boardman FSR Mountain bikes any good as they seem to have some nice looking stuff in the price range I was looking at?

Has anyone on here tried one?

I've heard they are not bad for the price, along with the Go Outdoors full bounce bike (if that is still around) but one thing I've always stood by with Halfords bikes is if you want to keep it, then go ahead, but if you are thinking of owning for a year and then moving up or along, then the market is full of Halfords bikes (RTWS) and their second hand value is low.

This was correct a couple of years ago and may be completely different now, what with COVID and price increases.

Hi guys,

Looking for a bit of advice on two things if possible.

First, I have a Cube Acid 2010 H/T. I generally like XC type trails and have been slowly getting back into mountain biking after a long layoff. However I've recently found that the chain is stuck on the middle of the front 3 rings and wont change over to the largest or smallest one? When you push the lever on the bar nothing really happens apart from a bit of noise from the chainset. Is there something I can adjust/tweak to fix it? Planning on taking it in to my LBS to get it serviced but thought I'd have a go myself until I can get the bike booked in and dropped off in the next few weeks. It's got Shimano Deore XT on it if that helps.

Secondly, I'm looking for a full suspension bike now that I'm getting back into MTB's. Rather than buy brand new I am leaning towards picking one up pre-owned. Budget is around £1000 to £1200 ish. Any suggestions for what I should be looking at? There have been a few Giant Stance's for sale near me at around that budget and a nice looking Canyon Strive is for sale near me too. Would appreciate suggestions on what used examples I could be looking at to get maximum bang-per-buck?

Cheers!! :)
