Mountain Biking

I'm still running my 15 year old Specialized Stumpjumper when I ride. :O Bit behind the times me.

I've not done but depending how warn the rest of your cassette is I'd imagine that shifting wouldn't be great with a mix of old and new cogs and your chain.

But then if it's only £12 I'd just get it to give it a try. If if works great. If not no great loss but you'll need to shell out £80
Thankfully the chain isnt that old, i only replaced it about 2 years ago and its not done anything strenuous to wear/stretch it. I've also had a look at the rest of the cassette and the rest of the cogs look a little worn but nothing horrendous, I've never noticed any issues when changing gear in the past.

I'd be tempted to give the £12 cog a go.

Whilst its all off i might remove the derailleur as well and give it a good clean and soak the jockey wheels in some degreaser. The whole system could probably benefit from a proper overhaul. Ive neglected it for far too long.

Yeah I would. Try the cheapest option first :)

Got some new tire's yesterday so went out for a nice long 36km ride to test them out on all types of terrain(paved, hard packed, loose) certainly way better on paved and hard packed which is what they are designed for!

Back on the proper bike at the moment. Going down a rocky chute on my Orbea Rise a few weeks ago, a rock took out some spokes and essentially the wheel shook itself to pieces, the wheel hooked the derailleur and pulled backwards and the hanger split the seat stay and damaged the chain stay.

£700 repair, all done and now the shop are saying they can’t get the bike to turn on….. more days without…

So back on the Orbea Rallon for now, certainly sweating more in these hot days and the legs feel a lot more tired!

I'd love to get some coaching to help with riding. I haven't had any time to get out at all since last year though due to life getting in the way. My riding has been restricted to commuting for the moment.

Finally treated myself to a hammer alignment guage.
Was considering either the Abbey Tools one or the park tools one. In the end just couldn't justify the Abbey one the DAG3 is plenty good enough.

Well today was a first for me, less than a month old SRAM XX1 chain snapped...
I just put one on my EMTB the other day... hopefully it doesn't snap.
are you going to try and get them to replace the chain? I've seen from past google searches people have successfully got replacement chains when they have failed early.

Apparently manufactures can tell from how they broke if it was a manufacturing issue or not. since xx1 chains are so expensive I'm guessing they don't put up much of a fight

I took a short cut across a field full of cows... one with public right of way so not dangerous used by dog walkers etc.

the cows were on one of the narrow dirt paths paths so I had to drive through 1foot tall grass... got out the other end of the field and noticed fresh cow poop on my front wheel...
looked at the guard thing on my downtube and it literally had a whole cow pat stuck to it

I shoulda took a photo before I washed it off, thankfully it was so fresh it basically melted off into the water
