Mountain Biking

Dropper post question, the sentier came with the brand x ascend which is great, never had one before but it's a complete game changer. However, I can't work out if there's a way to set the max height that it extends too? If I'm climbing and I set it full height my legs are a bit too straight and I'm reaching for the handlebars a bit. I googled but couldn't work out if there's away to adjust the height at which it extends fully to.

In hindsight I reckon an M frame would have suited me better than an L but I can't return it now. I haven't yet made any adjustments to saddle or handlebar position etc. so I think I can make it more comfortable.

Can you drop the whole post further into the frame?

I did this on my Specialized.

Looking at the picture he posted of his bike a couple of post above, it looks like the dropper can't go into the frame any further.

Only option is to replace the dropper. It's really easy to do. I fitted a brand X one to my Bizango. Literally took 30 minutes.

Hmm I'll do some digging and see, apparently you can get some cheap shims from OneUp that achieve it. Either way it's manageable for now!

With the permissive roads at imber open this weekend i decided to challenge myself, nearly double the distance of what i'm used to.

Away this weekend in the Tweed Valley, just had a day at Golfie and my god it’s something special. Beyond anything I’d ridden before and absolutely at the limit of my abilities but mega fun.

Absolutely cooked my rear brake disk now mind, think it’s about time to replace the SRAM codes with some Hope V4s. 100kg rider and a 25kg e-bike is probably about the limits of the stock brakes

What size rotors do you have?

Just put an order in for a titanium Sonder Broken Road with Shimano SLX through cycle to work. Plan is to load it up and get bikepacking, rather than any trail centres and all that stuff.

Last summer I bought myself a nice Cube Reaction Race 625 with the intention of using it to cycle to work (on the nice days). The commute is 30 each way so with that and a few days out (locally) I stuck just over 1000 trouble free miles on it in the year. This year's summer didn't lend itself to using the bike (particularly commuting) all that much but recently been getting back out on it.

Last week I splurged out on a nice Specialized Levo since they were reduced on sale. The thing is amasing. I've got so many routes planned for this thing. First one was to cycle up Meikle Bin (one of the local Marylins). It was bloomin steep and very hard but did manage:

The road trip wasn't particularly long on distance but climbing was 3300Ft. A good work out for the legs. The 2 of them polish up well:

I still have a couple of weeks holidays left this year where I intend to hit all the good trails around Ballater and Peebles.

Wanting to pick up some spare inners, here's the tyres on my bike:

Front Tyre: Schwalbe Magic Mary, 27.5", 2.6", SnakeSkin, TL Easy, Apex, Addix Soft
Rear Tyre: Schwalbe Hans Dampf, 27.5", 2.6", SnakeSkin, TL Easy, Apex, Addix SpeedGrip

However, I can't seem to find any 27.5" x 2.6" tubes anywhere!?

First google finds conti tubes for 2.6+.

But 2.5 ones will be fine.

Specialized do a 27.5 2.3-3.0 tube.

Ok, thanks to my stupidity/being new to this I was disregarding the ranged based sizes and was looking for a specific 27.5" x 2.6" size. Will take a look cheers!

I use 3in1 Oil used it for over 30 years and never had an issue. I’m sure there are more fancy mixtures now as everyone seems to have the perfect lube.

Any suggestions for a dry lube that doesn't turn into black gook after a ride in the *dry*?

It's just taken me ages to degrease my drivetrain after using Muc-Off dry lube.

Any suggestions?

Smoove for me, it just works. Seems tk last for ages, and needs less cleaning (I hate cleaning, bikes are dirty most of the time) .

Ive used it in the dry, and some really disgusting conditions.
