Mountain Biking

Was out on my bike earlier and took a pretty nasty fall, was doing this descent and it was steeper than what it looked, and there was loads of small rocks on it and I had some dubnital 29x2.4's on which are cross country racing tires, went down whilst braking and my tyres just slipped and I went tumbling and the back of my head slammed a tree. lesson learnt i wont be doing these type of descents without proper grippy tyres on and especially not one with a fence at the end of it

my helmet took most of the impact, gutted its of no use now as its badly dented and parts of the foam inside have broken and have cracks in it too but better the helmet than my head

got a headache and my left ribs seem to be hurting, hoping it gets better by end of the week and i havn't broken anything
If you're tyres slipped that sounds like you locked them up. Try to not lock them, especially not the front.

Dyfi booked for May, wish it was closer so I could visit more than one a year. But it's free so can't say no.
We were planning to go to DYFI this Saturday, but this morning when I went to book it up it had sold out. So we are going to Revolution bike park instead.

Yesterday evening we did Forest of Dean DH runs. We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.
I’ve got so much enjoyment watching my son’s MTB progress - this time last year he couldn’t jump or ride that quick down a track. Now he’s much better than me and sending jumps & drops which I can’t do.

A photo I took at the bottom of the FoD GBU line

Im at Dyfi on the 3rd.

Didn't like revolution as much.

Did BPW last weekend the new Double barrel trail is great. Still much prefer BPW on my ebike. Did the morning on my enduro and the afternoon on the eeb.

Really dont see any reason to not use the eeb there. Flows so much better.

Is GBU fully open now? Not been to the trail centre for ages. The cafe and shop were always shut on mondays so thats when i used to go.

I've found myself ditching my ebike in favour of my normal bike these days. The sense of achievement and the harder workout seems to be giving me much more enjoyment at the minute.

My commencal is about 17kg at a guess and it feels like a feather compared to my 23kg levo.

The difference in playfulness and agility is crazy. I spent too long being a regular on my ebike and forgot how much more I can throw my other bike about.

Dont worry I wont be going down dodgy stuff like that again! much prefer bike parks and doing jumps and going to trails, although did fall on a jump recently (did it ok the first time, but then i got overconfident and went over it faster but on the takeoff i think i was going sideways, went high up in the air and thought 'oh **** this is gonna be a crash' and landed slightly side ways, lost control and fell on my chest.

luckily was wearing knee pads, and now have elbow pads and will potentially get a chest armor (before you ask yes i do wear a full face helmet)

i use a hardtail though and a bit annoyed my back tyre got buckled again

I try and do 2 days e bike and 2 days non e bike per week, currently have the e-hardtail and a non electric hybrid, want to eventually sell the hybrid and get a non electric gravel bike but the hybrid is really useful for groceries due to the pannier rack

I was thinking of getting a non electric full suspension mtb sometime in march with cycle to work but I might go for one of those light low power motor ones such as thq 60NM ones, but then I see people walking up places where I can just ride up in bike parks and am still getting a really good workout with my heartbeating in the 140-160s. My main motivation for getting one though is so I can go to bike parks around the country and stay in a hotel and not have to worry about charging the bike, unless i can find one that charges wthin a couple of hours

Eeb is in the shop for a new motor. Horrific rattle noise and whine under load. :(

lasted 658 miles in 7 or so months. Hopefully gets sorted quickly

Yes, the the GBU line is fully open now. It's a great run top to bottom, with loads of tables at the top, two decent drops in the middle, then the big jumps at the end.

We enjoyed Revolution on Saturday - it was super dry & dusty. The lines are good there, most have multiple technical options left or right on the way down. Kind of a memory test on which side to go :p

We are booked in for DYFI this Saturday and will book BPW again on Monday - if the rain isn't too much.

Back to Forest of Dean again tonight.

Revolution

They do well getting 10 riders, plus the driver in these LR's !
One of the three also had a dog with him :p

Not been Revs since it closed a few years back due to the tree disease.
Are all the trails open now? Or is it still limited opening compared to before the closure?

Hi guys

Hoping to pick some brains regarding bike storage in a shed. Wanting to try and get back into some form of mountain biking after an awful fall/crash in 2017 that completely screwed my shoulder. I've still got one of my hardtails that's been hooked up to a turbo trainer for my parents to use at their house. They no longer use it so I'm going to start using it again but finding a suitable way to store it has proven tricky. I want to store it so that the handlebar is up against the shed wall so it's not going to get in the way (they're 780mm in length) but all the hooks I've seen for storing it vertically all rely on it securing at the wheel. Had a look around but I'm struggling to see something that specifically designed for this so my thoughts were to get one of the horizontal ones where the top tube sits on it but hook my handlebar on it instead - any ideas if this would work or any other alternatives?

Thanks! :D

Have you got a quick release front wheel? If so you can get a axle mount and bolt it to the wall and store the bike vertically.
bike axle mount

Yeah, did see that one but I don't think they deliver to the UK.

Tempted to just try one of the top tube mounts and see how it goes.
then surely 2 of any generic "hook" would work, as long as the hook is bigger than the grips / handlebar.

wont 2 of these work?

spaced apart how you want - either just each side of the stem, like the above link, but that would need more "reach" away from the wall, to accommodate the handlebar rise. Or mount about 740mm apart to be on your grips, or about 500mm apart to be inside the brakes? I cant work out what's special about this?

They more than likely would work - I just didn't think of using a generic hook in case there was something out there that was specific to the way I'm hoping to mount the bike.
