Mountain Biking

Would someone be able to help to choose my next hardtail mtb? I am looking for a bike for up to £450, these are my following choices
-Specialized Hardrock Disc SE 26 Mountain Bike 2015 - Hardtail MTB
-Specialized Pitch Sport 650b Mountain Bike 2015 - Hardtail MTB
-Cube Aim Disc 27.5 Mountain Bike 2015 - Hardtail MTB
-GT Avalanche Comp Mountain Bike 2015 - Hardtail MTB
-Specialized Rockhopper Sport 29 Mountain Bike 2015 - Hardtail MTB
and last TREK MARLIN 7

What wheels should I get I am 183cm tall
Which one would you say is the best choice, or maybe you can recommend a different one

After doing more research I think I will go for the -Specialized Pitch comp 650b Mountain Bike 2015 - Hardtail MTB as I read many good reviews on it. Also for the price it is perfect for me. What do you guys think about this bike?

That will be fine, the 650/27.5 is probably the better (read future proof) choice, I'm still stuck in the 26" club, really don't like the 29ers.

Had my first proper ride-out today on the new bike.

Was having a great time at "the lookout" in Bracknell with my brother, till we came across a crashed rider towards the end.

Unfortunately he died at the scene. RIP old dude :(

Oh **** :( You know what happened? Heart Attack or due to injury? :(

Yes, he was riding alone, but people were on the scene very fast. 2 ambulances, air ambulance and police were all in attendance when we arrived. We were the last to arrive before the trail was closed.
They had the HEMS team working on him when we got there, and full treatment was in effect. However after some time the crews all decided that there was little more they could do, and stopped treatment.
I am told that he died from massive head and neck injuries.

He had seemed to jump a mound, and looking at his front wheel, which was badly buckled, hit the top of the next mound with a turned wheel, and went over the bars hard into the ground. The bike had travelled a long way afterwards, so it was at some speed.

It was fairly traumatic, and after treatment had concluded, we were allowed to pass, and it was quite horrific to see the state he was in.

Ouch.

One thing I'm always cautious of (probably too cautious at times) is what follows after a jump. Generally I'll roll over if two jumps are close together. Always have the odd mate asking if my brakes are stuck on but I'll only ever go at a pace I'm comfortable with.

Poor guy :(

He was. My brother said it was a cheapy and and looked pretty old. I only saw that it from a distance but it was split all the way.
However, in this particular case I am not sure even the best helmet in the world would have saved him.

The Swinley Fb page is awash with speculation

One of the guys that stopped to help has spoken to the wife to pass on the well wishes and should have some info when all family members have been told.

Did Hopton Woods this morning. Not the best weather to be doing it in;

We read online about being cautious in the wet, LOTS of exposed tree roots.. They weren't wrong! Still, pretty enjoyable even if we were carrying our own body weight in mud.

Will probably go back when its forecast dry!
