Mountain Biking

Needs a black stem and you need to ditch those poncey grips :D

I never colour co-ordinate my kit I buy for the bike, hence the orange stem, pink grips and purple vaults. All those items can be bought in black but I chose other wise ;). It did have a gun metal grey havoc bar till I got the carbon renthals cheep cheep.

Ditching my offset bush kit from the rear shock as soon as I get a seal kit so I can service at the same time. I notice not one bit of difference going downhill but I am getting more pedal strike and steering uphill is even worse than before. I was expecting it to be a lot more different downhill, I guess I hoped for too much :p. I might put them back in on uplift days as it's literally a 10 minute job.

Hey guys just looking for some advise, iv been looking into getting my first mountain bike. i think i have it narrowed down to the Giant reign 2 or the trek slash 7. Budget being £2500.

Which one of them two would people recommend?

Thanks

Aaron

I rave about too much stuff, can't take anything I say seriously :p
(seriously though, it's bloody excellent)

It's a lot of bike for a beginner though - where would you be riding most? Not that it will be cumbersome even in the least on pedally places, but its not the ideal weapon for when you intend to do a lot of miles. Both those bikes are great, but I'd opt for the Reign any day. Trek's specs are never up to par for what you pay and it's really annoying having to have a proprietary shock length.

Curiously, have a look at the most popular bikes being ridden at Whistler BIke Park

An AM bike being in the top list among DH specific bikes, speaks volumes to its capabilities as a descender.
