Mountain Biking

Is it worth using the 8x30 mount bearings or are the standard steel ones still best?
The bearings are meant to be only used for the air shocks (you wouldn't be able to get the coil off the DHX2 if you had one fitted) but even then they prevent the air can from being removed... well done, Fox.

Hateful things anyway, never work properly as grit gets inside very easily and also cost a small fortune to install and remove as you need Fox proprietary hardware. Steer well clear and go with the standard Fox kit.

Presume the actual bush is pre-installed on brand new shocks.
It should come with the beige bushings already on the shock. But the Fox kit comes with a spare set anyway.

What do you guys think of the idea of my carrying an extra e bike battery in a frame bag and going on red trails such as gisburn and dalby forest, is it a dumb idea incase I fall and the battery potentially slamming on the ground?

I already carry an extra in a backpack (its an evoc one thats specially made for it with a compartment and a protective back on it to protect your spine incase of a fall)

Is this in addition to the backpack battery?
Do you need the extra battery for Gisburn and dalby, how many hours are you riding round them for?!

I have a total of 2 batteries (500wh each) I carry an extra one in my backpack

Yesterday I got 44 miles out of them all together in a mixture of Tour / EMTB mode (Bosch gen 4 cx performance line) at gisburn, shouldn't they last a bit longer than this?

problem is I don't have a car and have to go on train and cycle to the trails, 10 miles each way to gisburn forest, 12 miles each way to Dalby but I have decided against getting an extra battery because am just gonna upgrade to a FS with a bigger battery next year.

my batteries do feel like they drain quite fast though unless its just me, maybe my weight has something to do with it (114kg)

I'm 83kg with kit, plus water bottle (750g) and my 750Wh battery lasts about 28-30 miles around Cannock Chase FtD and Monkey, using a mix of 70% Tour and 30% eMTB. [Trek Rail, Bosch Gen4 CX Perf, 160mm travel]
My son gets around the same range on his 625Wh battery, same bike, and ride settings but he only weighs about 55kg's

dismantled my hardtail and switched a few bits over to this.

I am amazed how well these XC style tyres roll. Im going to BPW Monday. Might take this and see how she goes.
Its 140/130. Fox 36SL is much nicer than the 34's.

Took it out for a shakedown ride and did a quick 5 mile loop. Did it 10 mins faster than any previous non ebike efort.

Rear pads must have been contaminated as i had no rear brake. Put new ones in and its all good.

14.7kg as you see it here.

Mine seems about right then I get around 16 - 24 miles out of a 500wh on a mix of tour and emtb mode.

I went Gisburn yesterday on my emtb hardtail, did 2 runs of the blue trail (7 miles each run) and then the red trail which is 10 miles but technical uphill climbing and lots of rocky terrain, i made a mistake and took no water with me and got really thirsty and exhausted half way through it, the trails themselves are really good fun though

did a total of 44 miles because its a 7 - 8 mile ride from the nearest train station to the trails and was knackered after it, need to get myself fitter

No actually that sounds pretty good, I just took a look at the flow app to see stats for when I went to Gisburn but annoyingly it records everything but the battery usage!
