Mountain Biking

More goodies for the Status :D

That’s a lot of spare shocks! I think I have 3 shocks and 2 forks spare, my whole spare collection rivals that of just your random shock drawer. Terrifying

I need to shift a bike or two and about 4 sets of spare wheels… there’s also 3 sets of brakes, 6 sets of rotors, 4 lots of cranks and a couple of drive trains spare too. I’ve also tested that many grips to find the ones I truly like that I now find myself with 14 sets I have used for all of an afternoon.

I think my next upgrade will be a shed for the garden equipment etc and a make over of a garage space better suited to the bike issues.

And a couple more bits to finish her off..

I’m not 100% convinced by the blue but it will allow for a cheeky splash of colour here and there if I fancy it. If it doesn’t work then I can always be boring and get silver/chrome.

I'm the opposite I take all the stickers off as much as I can.

Here is a new one that has got me raging.

Ordered a new TLD Stage helmet from Troy Lee Designs direct on the 22nd July. Get an email saying they are moving warehouse will be delay of a couple of weeks.

back and forth Helmet finally delivered 23rd August.

Today I have had an email from DHL claiming unpaid Duty and VAT. Invoice addressed to Troy Lee Designs at an address in Portsmouth. I call DHL, its genuine TLD haven't paid the bill so are chasing me the receiver for the outstanding balance.

Troy Lees website states: We ship all of our orders from Troy Lee Designs Europe from our warehouse in The Netherlands and we send all orders duties paid. You won't need to pay anything extra on top of your delivery charge.

Have emailed Troy Lee as no phone number but now i have DHL debt collectors onto me.

Rant over (sorry its mainly bike related  )

Couple of videos from Bike Park Wales at the weekend. First time going. Did two days. Those videos are from the end of Sunday, so pretty knacked after two full days.
Thought the place was pretty good but didn't really like how a lot of them started off good then had lengthy flat boring sections before picking up again.
Of the trails I rode I thought What's Occurring, 50 Shades of Black and Boomslang the best but no footage as only rode them once each on the first day.

Vicious Valley is one of my faves alongside Sixtapod, HotStepper, Popty Ping and Insufficient Funds!

Not been there in ages.
Think I rode Sixtapod. Definitely rode Insufficient funds. Didn't do the others you mentioned. Tried to ride as many different trails as possible as it was first time there but not I don't really remember which was which.

Does anyone know of a budget hardtail for around £400 max thats decent for canal rides and parking outside the gym? dont want to park my £3200 electric hardtail outside the gym

At that price you will be very limited to the typical Halfords type bikes if looking for “new” but boardman do have a few that are reasonable for that budget.

I’ll start with the “if you can stretch” then we open the doors the entry level 29ers such as the rockhopper from specialized (500-550ish) and the Nukeproof tracker (500-550ish). There are also bikes such as the Orbea Onna or the Cube Aim one. These can be found closer to the £400 budget at around £450 but I’d personally up the budget and go with the Nukeproof even though the specs on all bikes mentioned are very similar but that’s just me.

Then we have the “second hand” argument. At this price point I wouldn’t bother. The spec upgrade will be nice but the wear and tear etc is unknown and you then start to invite those eyes your trying to avoid attracting. It’s a case of 6 and two 3s at this point.

Thanks

Yeah i looked around and couldnt find much for that price but found a brand new trek marlin 7 gen 3 on evans for 825 so i bought that, will get it insured and bike registered and hopefully no one will nick it or damage it when parked outside my gym, i generally keep my bikes for a minimum of 4 years so id rather ride something decent

I got a spare dmr sweeper handlebar lying around that ill probably put and change the saddle to an ergon one i have

That sounds like a much better long-term buy if you’re keeping it for four years. Insurance and registration should take some of the worry out of leaving it at the gym, and swapping the contact points later is easy enough.
