Move away from DPD, they're dragging you down

speaking in a non-shop representative capacity here.

all courier services have bad areas of operation and are never 100% perfect.

I will be honest, out of all of the ones i have dealt with personally, DPD have been up there as one of the better ones.

having been an OcUK employee who was customer facing for many years, it meant that i had to deal with Citylink, DHL and DPD

from a customer service standpoint, DPD are very good for us to deal with [this translates into us being able to assist our customers better].

Its very much a case of swings and roundabouts.

If you have a specific problem with our courier service, it is best to inform us via the CS channels.

I can assure you that all feedback is forwarded to the couriers and our higher tiers of management.

My experience of DPD delivering to residential address is very poor especially now i live in a flat. I have even seen them drive upto the building turn off the van, wait and then drive off.

Now i always get everything delivered to my work address i have not had a single problem or missed parcel. I live less than a mile from work so it would be the same driver maybe the just CBA with residential drop offs.

Every delivery company is essentially crap. Its hard not to be, they're basically setup to depend on x amount of people to ensure you get your pracel, with those being different people all about the country. Odds are, some of their employees basically have to be less than steller, so somebodies always going to have a complaint no matter which company is used. Thats not to say people should put up with crappy service, just complain about it until something actually gets done.

I think it all depends on your local depot. Ive always found them reliable, got the emails saying when its going to arrive, used the tracking and its always been spot on.

No doubt another region is covered by a different depot and maybe they arent so good. Im in Bedfordshire and I think the local depot is Dunstable.

I think there needs to be a choice.

Im often (always) aty work during the time DPD deliver. If you call them up, you cant speak to a human. Just a silly robot.

I managed to find the number for the local depot in the yellow pages, spoke to a grumpy person on the phone who said that

1. the can redeliver the parcel, but only to the same address, or another number in the same postcode. The issue here is my block of flats has its own postcode, so i cant deliver it to my girlfriends house which is just a 2 min walk away from my place.

2. If i want to change the delivery address i need to speak to the sender as there will be a cost involved.

3. The automated system only lets you pick a very limited date range for re-dlivery.

In the end, i spoke to the depot and found out that if you leave a handwritted note, with the date and your signature on it then this is taen as delivery sonsent and they will leave the parcel wherever you say.

Theyre a terrable company TBH, better than Citylink granted, but id prefer Parcel Force. At least they can leave the items at a local post office as theyre part of royal main, rather than delivery depot 40 miles away (and yes, ive been there twice...).

DPD are ok some of the time, but they have droped a card and run, considering the depot is about 40 mins away not a happy person.

As above parcel force can drop at the post office and i have 3 within 4 mins drive in any direction i go ( ok you have to pay a charge but it does save time and hassel)

+1 I have to agree, everyone has had a bad experience with most delivery services. Although I have much better luck with deliveries to work rather than home with all companies
