In a few weeks I'll have funding for my new PC. I haven't had anything other than AMD since I had a PIII 600 back in the day, so I'm unsure which is best. I've read a LOT of reviews, but all of these are just general hardware, what I'm after is real user opinions. With that in mind would the following be okay stability wise? I know it's going to be more than enough for gaming and photoshop, etc.

I7 4770k Haswell
Asus sabertooth Z87 (I quite like the idea of the covered board)
16gb ram (not actually sure which to choose here, any recommendations?) Vengence pro series?
I'm definitely getting a 780ti probably an EVGA (unless anyone knows better, but I'm not willing to pay ridiculous prices as this is expensive enough at £548!)
PSU - what would people recommend for use with this CPU and sabertooth? I've read of quite a few boot issues that seem to be PSU related due to either issues with the haswell or the motherboard, but nothing conclusive.
Soundcard wise, I've got a new creative pci-e card so that'll do. I have a decent hi-fi for music so I see no point in upgrading this.
HDD - I'm going for the new EVO 500gb with some 2tb SATAIII thingy for storage.

All info greatly appreciated as I've spent a week reading around and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of solid info linking all the components and I'd like to avoid conflicts. I should add that I'm a bit wary of Asus motherboards as my current AMD board is Asus and it's always had quirks and a poor layout for sata connectors, etc.

Well I've managed to get a couple of builds using the OCUK configurator thing, and another sites version and prices are virtually identical with just the motherboards varying so far. The price seems to float around the £1800 mark including the Corsair 600D case, which I like a lot :) I was going to stick a Dell monitor in the mix, but I'll do that in future and stick with the essentials for now, using the money saved to get Lightroom5 and elements 12, along with a Spyder.

Thanks for that. The case seems nice too :) The one thing I don't want is water cooling, especially a refurb unit. I've got no experience with water cooling so I'd rather side step that minefield :D

Oh is there any reason you've selected 4x 4gb sticks of ram over x2 8gb sticks?

X79 makes use of Quad channel RAM, so 4 sticks instead of 2.

The H100's are pretty much a standard heatsink, you just put it on and away you go. I'd also change the fans to SP120's as they're quieter.

Just get a 4670k, it's the best value CPU right now, and if you need better multithreading get a 4770k.

The RAM suggestion is good.

You should consider the Radeon R9 290X, given a better cooler, it would be better than the GTX780.

As for the CPU cooler, I would definitely just use air cooling as well, something like the Alpenfohn K2 "Mount Doom" will come close to what liquid cooling does anyway.

Oo now that is tempting, although I have no real need of SLI so I'd probably stick with a 780ti.

One thing I did noticed on the configurator page is that there seems to be no ti cards listed. The reason I'm thinking if using that rather than a self build that I've been doing for 10+ years is that annoyingly I've got rheumatoid arthritis and my hands are very painful and weak at the moment. Will the page be updated with newer cards soon?

Would be easier to call customer support and they will talk you through the options

You can put what you want in your build, as long as it is all compatible. As mentioned above, have a word with CS and say what changes you require. Or failing that you could just say you want one of the above baskets building for you.

Sweet! Cheers for the info people :)

It's going to be a few weeks but hopefully before Christmas I get the finances sorted (yay for pain in the rear mortgage processes taking ages!). Basically the quieter the PC the better so that water cooled option above is quite tempting, especially if built and checked by sane people, unlike myself :D

GOOD MORNING :)

Red, how it should be done.
