Moving back to intel, advice requested

The corsair H100i is a closed loop liquid cooler, its all built into that single unit :) everything you need comes in the box. You only have to install it then forget it as no other maintainance is required.

Oh and before you order come back and ask for another spec as prices in the hardware market can change daily.

Cheers for that :)

Yeah, I'll pop back for certain. I've got insurance to sort on Tuesday, and paperwork, then it should all be pushed through. As long as no more banks go under I'm hoping for new toys for christmas. Oh, and a 24-70mkII and 70-200mkII. Then 10 years of poverty :D

send those my way ;)
tho personally I'd like the 24-105 :)
have a mk1 70-200 f4 non-is, have the 10-22, now just need a good walk around lens(have the crappy 18-55) and a new body, currently have the 300d and been wanting to upgrade for years but not got around to it.

I've got the 70-200 F4 too, and 12-24. Oddly, I started with the 300D too, then moved to a 30D, then 60D and now 5Dmk3, but that's for another sub section :D

*grumble*

Solicitors are a pain in the rear. Ours has done nothing for 3+ weeks, then when we go to see them they send us to see a junior who can't do/approve anything, we had another appointment a week later and they will now START the final checking. The best thing is they get £500 for doing NOTHING for a month and now it's delayed everything until the end of January!

To annoy me more, most things in this build list have gone up by £20-£40!

Well the solicitor seems to have FINALLY pulled her thumb out and has said the whole thing should be dealt with by Friday, so in theory I could even place the order by Friday evening! More likely next Tuesday/Wednesday if her current ability to tell the truth is anything to go by, but hey ho.

Anyway, is the suggestion in this thread still the best way to go? I've noticed that a new CPU cooler has been released since this thread was started, although it doesn't have a fan controller apparently, but also runs cooler I've read.

Any offers of updated info welcome :)

Some of the prices will be different. The Silverstone psu in ethers build is no longer stocked. Probably just a case of clicking on each item and seeing the price difference, and then looking for alternatives if needed.

I've not put a spec together... but just saying with that amount of cash. Go full watercooling loop, there is this really great forum that has loads of nice people and helpful tips on what to do A NO THER FORUM :p

Personally since I made my first full watercooling PC, I have never looked back. They are so easy to build and keeps everything nice an cool and quiet. Also looks much better than the pre-mades (unless you buy an 8 pack system !)

I think water cooled would be asking for trouble for me. I have terrible luck :D The CPU block will do me for now :)

All ordered :D

I'm off out in a bit, so the build may be delayed until Sunday/Monday :p

Oh, I had to get a Corsair 860 rather than 860i as they don't seem to be in stock anywhere, annoyingly. Stupid solicitor took 3 months to sort everything out, and even managed to mess up payment and the date, and the amount! As a result a few items were out of stock, so I've ordered the build via 3 different suppliers. Still, it saved me about £60 doing that, I now just have to pray that DPD do not suck and arrive tomorrow!

Erm, I've ordered the parts and they'll be here tomorrow. It's my build :D

The case will be sitting on my desk, next to the monitor, so it'll be in full view all the time, so I went for a shiny red build. I was going blue, but changed my mind at the last minute. That gives me an excuse to buy a new keyboard too, and put this old system in the back room.

Oh, and to annoy you more, I've peed money away on a 780ti, not the 780 :D I see a second monitor in my future :p

It's basically the Red build mentioned above, but with an 860 corair PSU and red vengeance ram, with the 780ti. Everything else is the same otherwise :)

Oh, I ordered the new Corsair 105 rather than the previous version (which seems to have gone from stock on most sites now) - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-025-CS as I've read a few reviews and watched a 32 minute video (kinda wished I'd died during that one I can tell ya, boring wasn't the word :D ) and everything says it runs cooler than the previous version due to larger radiator, etc, so I went with that.

Slowly getting there :D Had a few niggles routing things, annoyingly the PSU only fits fan up. Also I realised I forgot to buy a bluray drive, so I'll have to pull the one on this PC out for now. Just got to install the CPU cooler now, turn a fan around (ahem) and stick in the 780ti.

That's when I'll find it doesn't boot, as usual :D

How come the psu won't fit fan down ? Not that it's a huge problem. Did you not get the red Corsair PSU cables ?

I'm still in the process of placement at the moment, as I've been doing other things at the same time as building this. One thing I've noticed is that on the cables that came with the PSU it says 860 ONLY and on the red set it says 1200i ONLY on them. I haven't had a chance to look to see if I've ordered the wrong ones!

Oh and the PSU only fits one way as the holes don't line up with the fan facing downwards.

Well that lists the 860 and 860i so I should be safe. I kind of like the alternating from red to black at the moment. Just got to stick in the gfx card, soundcard and bluray drive so should finish it tomorrow.

Oh and I can't figure out where to place the LED strip :D
