Moving to Canada for 12 months - IEC Working Holiday Visa

Really? Bloody hell, that would be quite handy! Was it definitely for the working holiday visas? I'm guessing that was only Ireland as well, I can't remember if Ireland and UK opened at the same time.

Apparently so mate. That's what I was told. Sure the quota is being increased to around 10,000 for 2014. If that is the case I wouldn't be surprised to see it open in October. I hope it does so I can get the ball rolling!

I'm actually not sure if it was for Ireland just or both the UK and Ireland!

Ireland opened about a month before the UK and was trialled at 2 years for them also!

I'll check daily from September in case then XD

Will be heading to Niagara Falls next month to activate my second year Visa. Really loving this place and can't see myself going back home.

Ontario government have come back to te employer with a YES to provincial nomination for PR.

WOOT!!

All our paperwork has to be in 2 months, then hopefully 3 months later we will be able to stay indefinitely.

Now you're here in person, it should be a lot easier.

Get to know some people, then put the feelers out.

Loved the video ScarySquirrel. Insanely envious, mind. Glad you're enjoying yourself. :)

Same to you Daniel. Glad to hear you're having fun! :)

Well, not yet; will be Friday!

There are a couple of jobs in my area of expertise about too; I applied for 2 a couple of weeks ago to see about response, on both I mentioned about the IEC in the letter and didnt hear anything back - going to leave it out now until the interview stage (if I get that far ofc)

Nice one!! I'm not sure what our long term plans are yet if I'm honest. It'll be 3 months tomorrow since we got here, and we're loving it, but I imagine after our 2 IEC visas we may be wanting to settle down back in the UK. Too early to say yet though, we'll see.

I was in that neck of the woods just over a week ago. Well, just over the border in Washington state anyway. We were sailing up the Straits of Juan de Fuca, Puget Sound and past Seattle on our way to Tacoma, where we delivered a few hundred units of heavy equipment (think CAT, Komatsu and Doosan excavators, bulldozers etc.) we'd picked up in Korea and Japan. I normally work in the engine room, but managed to blag a job that would mean I could be up on deck. I was supposed to be carrying out an annual service on the rescue boat engine, but I just stood there gawking instead at the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges, the forests and the crystal clear waters.

A beautiful part of the world, and one I'll be looking to visit again, this time in a non-working capacity so I can see it properly.
