I was in that neck of the woods just over a week ago. Well, just over the border in Washington state anyway. We were sailing up the Straits of Juan de Fuca, Puget Sound and past Seattle on our way to Tacoma, where we delivered a few hundred units of heavy equipment (think CAT, Komatsu and Doosan excavators, bulldozers etc.) we'd picked up in Korea and Japan. I normally work in the engine room, but managed to blag a job that would mean I could be up on deck. I was supposed to be carrying out an annual service on the rescue boat engine, but I just stood there gawking instead at the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges, the forests and the crystal clear waters.
A beautiful part of the world, and one I'll be looking to visit again, this time in a non-working capacity so I can see it properly.
