Moving to Cardiff...

Cardiff is a dump.
Last time i went there was august bank holiday 2006 to see my Nan.
Within 45 minutes of parking up someone had stoved the windows of my new van in just for fun.
I've been everywhere in the country near enough, and cardiff is the only place I have not felt safe in, even before the van incident.
Its a **** hole.

How can you say that? I admit stuff does happen here somtimes but Cardiff has been developed over the last 10 years and is a really nice city to work, live and play in. England is hardly a great place to live either, shootings, murders etc etc its always on the news for something. Cardiff is not perfect but are there any places left in the UK that are?

Cardiff centre is good for a night out, but for shopping i think it is pants tbh.
The last thing cardiff is is a dump!

Cardiff is good. Really good atmosphere for rugby days. Loads of good bars. Centre is good for shopping. 30 mins/1 hour you can be in West Wales where the scenery is beautiful.

ps - Im from Newport. Newport/Cardiff is having loads of new stuff built. Ryder Cup in Newport in 2010.

If your budget is £650 then you will get a nice 1 bed flat in one of the new developments in Cardiff bay. Although its a good 30 minute walk from town there are plenty of buses available. Failing that your only other three options within your price range are Adamsdown (I Live there and its full of alcoholics, druggies and thieving letches!....) Splott (Upper Roath ;)) This has some nice area's, especially around the broadway area (I used to live there), and finally Grangetown. Grangetown is a predominantly Asian populated area so all the local shops are really geared toward them, however it does have some nice quite family area's with no students and no druggies. As with all area's in Cardiff they have good and bad parts. If you find somewhere to live send me an email and i will give you as much information about it as i can :).

Edit - Jilly Leeds is Carp! I was up there covering one of our stores a few weeks ago. Newsflash derelict buildings look rubbish!!!!11one.

Theres hardly a lot to do in Swansea though, + The 1 - 1 1/2 hour commute every morning to Cardiff would soon get annoying!

Quite easily, I move my hands towards the keyboard and push the buttons to make the words i want to come up on the screen.

Cardiff is total dump.
I've lived there (unfortunately) visited relatives there, its horrible.
Back in the early 80's it wasnt that bad, a bit of graffiti, your normal brain dead inner city vandalism of public buildings etc etc. But at least the shops were open and you could park your car in broad daylight outside your house, as my dad did several times with expensive motors when he was there.

2006 it was boarded up derelicts, smashed up empty shops fronts, and empty streets.
I made a post about it back then as well.

I've seen atleast 3 times as many homeless people in Swansea City Centre than in Cardiffs

Im sorry but exactly which part of Cardiff are you talking about? Because as far as i am aware all cities in the UK have area's that leave a lot to be desired but this does not represent the cities entire standard. In the past 10 years Cardiff has undergone massive re-development and is really coming into its own. From what i can remember Cardiff was a bit run-down and a lot of buildings were left derelict in the 80's and early 90's but now... you must have had your eyes closed!

My thoughts exactly. Lived in Cardiff for a bit, age 0-28 yrs. Now living in Notts (since 94) but return regularly to visit family in Grangetown, the transformation is amazing.

Completely agree!

I live in the valleys and work in Cardiff and am there on a daily basis and don't understand what the other guy is saying!

It really is a nice City!
