MP Gaming -- would you cheat if you could?

I know thats what your saying... that was just in general. What i'm saying is, what in the hell are you trying to get at? Cheating is black or white, just because there are different levels of cheating doesn't make it a grey area.

ok ffs ill give you an example. :/

i'm in a server and everything is "fine". Usual regulars are on and the usual folk rise to the top with their skills. Its the natural order of things no cheaters and everyones having fun.

I leave server - load "admin.cfg" and re-enter. I see 3 of the top regular clan players playing at shooting each other through the walls. All the time making direct beelines for each other on the map avoiding hidden campers etc. I play a game with one where i camp at one room he approaches from the corridor (behind wall) he stops, glances at me (through wall) runs and sprint jumps into the corner and attempts to headshot me in mid-air....

A blind man thinks its sunshine and blue sky every bloody day... is the blind man wrong?

You act as if cheaters are abominations that appear from time to time and are banned and bliss returns to the server. It is that conception of what cheaters are that i disagree with.

I wouldnt, id like to think all of my friends that i play with wouldnt either but you never know!
There is nothing more frustrating than knowing someone in the same server as you is cheating and prospering form it aswell, that and having to remain silent about it. many times i have spoken up amid a game and been justized for it, firstly usually by the cheater secondly by the bandwagon following suite in an effort to feel like they are holding up some unwritten etiquette of online gaming.

completely destroys the flow and feel of the game when theres someone hacking in htere but truth be known it will never ever be totely gone.

never hacked myself, outaimed many hackers on sof2,

couldnt hack as was so tight in team uk on that game,

but now its crawling with hackers, and it has killed the game!

then demos are made and posted alongside the ban notices on the server's forums...

as has happens every so often on every forum linked to a server.

very bad idea  :(

thing is a lot of people who do this are lame asses . learn the game or just give up or play for fun.

not only this you will get caught sooner or later . you end up on a ban list and even in yrs to come if you on there no one will want to know you in any decent teams . it will have your ip location and game name aliases aswell .

even worse get the worst ban and youll need to buy a new pc :D:D not just a new game. always makes me smile when you see one of them pop up on the server :p

Sadly this isn't the case and there are that many games out there and servers that you could cheat on a different one every day of the year.

I started playing MOHAA again and there's at least 450 public unprotected servers which have people playing should I choose to cheat (which I would never do) I could happily spend a year going from one to the next and back again most of them aren't adminned at all.

Great story... what exactly is that suppose to be an example of? All i got from that was that the 3 top regulars were hackers and therefore needed banning.

I wouldn't use an aimbot or anything of that ilk. Nothing that changes fundamental skills of the game.

Things like model replacements and suchlike (improving visibility of items) on the other hand I'd be tempted by if they were undetectable.

Oh I did play with an aimbot on LAN against my housemate at uni about 10 years ago. But he knew about it, we were just messing about.

cheaters suck tbh. if your not good enough to win playing properly, then why bother playing at all?

its that mentality that i dont understand, 'im rubbish so ill cheat....'

just find a new game! quit computers, get a life!

While we're on the subject of unfair advantages over other players. What about drugs? Things like amphetamines can give people the edge over others with the fact they can concentrate better and have faster reflexes. It's a sad but true story in the world of competitive pro gaming. I've known and also commonly heard of people in Counter-Strike doing this to have the 'edge'. A while back I remember competitions where big money was involved for the price, they were thinking about doing drug tests because it got that bad.

On another note, there are also hacker/cheaters out there who cheat in a way that isn't obvious but enough that it makes them look good and 'legit'. There are a lot of players out there that do this, and are in clans and try to act in denial about it. I find it funny once they're caught though, leagues like TheSGL having their own anti-cheat system has caught LOTS and LOTS of players.

This is why I don't play competitively at any online multiplayer game anymore. I used to play CS for years and years in clans, playing various clan matches and when people cheat against you so easily, you kinda wonder what's the point in putting in the time and effort. These days I just play for fun.

I got bored once and did a bit of CS:S hacking.

Was rather funny, running round at the speed of light killing 16 players in 10 seconds with a Shotgun. :D

Though did get a bit boring and annoying especially after I tried it on Teeside server and got banned.

Never done it since, and don't shout at me calling me a cheating whore, Tefal helped made me, blame him!

If its against the competition rules then yeah its clearly cheating. Its no different to taking them in the Olympics. Competitive pro gaming where theres money at stake you can understand why its done, but if its something like regular competitive gaming where theres no reward... then they're just idiots.

I used to script in UO :P (who didnt lol ) but never used it to make gazzilions of cash . Just macro mined at my house and recal mined etc . But most of the fun was making the scripts and building in anti pk sub routines and other silly stuff .

Never cheated in a fps .

Persil

ditto

A long time ago one of the guys in an old clan of mine used a dot on the middle of the screen - which i suppose is some kind of rudimentory aimbot. I tried it for about an hour and just thought it was crap and didnt really give me much of an advantage.

Cheating is lame - the closest I get to cheating is on L4D2 if there is a health pack available then i will quickly use mine (if I am not green) and grab the next before soemone else does (selfish more than cheat I spose)!! Oh and whilst cleansing my soul I have restarted FM2010 a couple of times when i believe that the computer AI has cheated!!!

Silly question really most people wouldn't but kids who can't handle losing would. People from the ET community has hacked the Netcoders website a numbers of times and exposed there whole database and the people who spent 80 - 120 euro on a private cheat - deserved if you ask me.

The only game I have ever cheated in is Diablo II, and everyone did, if you didn't have the maphack at least you were a noob :p

I didn't have map hack :(

Then again i hated that game online tbh... stuck to singleplayer. At the most i use editors to respec.
