MR2 Mk II. Do They Look Dated ?

I still really rate the MR2. Strikes me as one of the cars that will definitely be a "classic". There really is very little else out there that looks like one. Probably one of the few cars that I've actually wanted to own and drive, but will never do.

the MR2 is unique cause its flippin powerful and mid engined :)

to me, they don't look dated.

I reckon it does look more dated than my ST205 celica thou, my car is more "bubbly" which was more a late 90's thing

Hah, hairdressers car my hair buttocks, it's a manly jap car of mad proportions!
Very cool look car imho, only thing that's dated is the interior (from what I've sen), but hey, who cares, if you're in it, you're driving it, and when you're driving it you couldn't care less about how it looks!

they look good, the only reason someone might think they look old is due to the fact some of them are old. people have seen them around for years.

a nice paintjob and decent alloys (and de tango!) and they look very fresh

it does look dated, but nowhere near as much as other cars from its generation do.

the pop up headlights thing is another big give away. pop up headlights are so 80s !

i like the shape of the MK2

my dad recently bought an MK1 just to mess about with on the weekends and he loves it to bits, but hes old and thinks it looks like a sports car should :p

The later (post 1994) versions don't look dated at all. The interior design might look a bit old hat but the quality of materials and finish is top notch.

I've owned a 1998 MR2 and wouldn't if I owned another.

I’d say yes they do look dated as most modern cars now seem to have very angular pointy features and body lines and the MR2 has more of a smooth rounded off 90’s look.

Saying that though they still look great cars and I’d probably have one my self. A car doesn’t have to look modern and cutting edge to look great:cool:

Im getting more and more tempted with these mainly because they're so impractical - perfect for what I want!

I just keep remembering Jez's incident and it keeps putting me off... :(

Just don't boot it around corners!

with clear front lights & some aftermarket alloys 16" or bigger, i dont think they look dated :)

I think they look great - although have to agree that they are a bit hairdressy, sorry.

You're obviously entitled to your opinion but could you quantify what's hairdressery about a mid engine'd, RWD, Japanese sports car (with up to 241BHP as standard) please?

If it's purely because some of them have a t-bar roof then does do you also class the tin top ones as hairdressery? Or for that matter is say a VX220/Elise hairdressery too as the roof comes off?
