Let these bioses mature before you start to make any conclusions.

Also I thought the FLCK you can run is based on the silicon lottery of your CPU.

A BIOS is not going to magically allow a CPU than cant do 2000 FCLK to suddenly do it.

It will only ENABLE those that already can.

The bios is essentially trying to more optimally tweak various voltage and other settings to try and get more stability out of the CPU but Yes absolutely FCLK stability comes down to the CPU and it's memory controller

Asus latest Beta Bios with the new AGESA has made my memory less stable and unable to boot at all at 2000 FCLK. They have now released the official BIOS which I haven't tried yet. For now ill stick to the stable one which can boot into Windows at 2000 FCLK and even Ram at 4400 MHZ (not 1:1), just not stable. Hopefully it will mature in time.

True, but the overall Zen 3 package has been improved. So yes, the BIOS will enable those who can, but the number of those who can is going to be significantly higher. 2GHz fabric isn't the realm of super rare lottery winners.

1.2.0.0 BIOS (3204) dropped yesterday for the X570 Crosshair Hero VIII. Installed it and can confirm...no change, but then I wasn't having issues before :D but at least it's stable

3202 from 14.1.2021 had that update already. It is now deleted and replaced with 3204.
"Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero - Date: 14.1.2021 - version 3202"

I don't know why they keep deleting the previous BIOS versions - MSI also don't keep their history clean.

Don't see what the obsession is with 2/4GHz tbh... I have a Gigabyte Aorus Master which has the 1.2 code and yes, I am able to run stable with 2GHz IF and 4GHz RAM... but I have to go above 1.4V on my RAM. Considering I am running 1900MHz IF and 3800MHz RAM with 1.0V and 1.34V respectively, I don't see the point in chucking in the extra heat and voltage just for a 100MHz jump which doesn't actually amount to anything in terms of performance.

I just picked up 4x4000 CL18 8gb sticks to see if I could run at 4000/2000.

It boots and offers a jump in timespy cpu score compared to 3800/1900 @CL18 but there was evidence of memory errors with artifacts and glitching.

I hit a similar score with 3800/1900 @CL16 but I can't help but wonder how good the 4000/2000 would be if it was stable. I'm looking forward to MSI dropping 1.2 for my board.

It's a bit OTT of us granted. A lot of it is just the psychological 4GHz threshold, with a dash of speed making a decent difference for Zen 3.

I bought 4000 RAM after seeing the AMD optimization slides claiming that 4000 was the new 3800 for Zen 3. I tried 2000 FLCK on the latest bios which has the 1.2.0.0 version on my ROG B550-F and it booted no problem but heard some strange noises and only got a third of performance in CPU-Z benchmark. Dropped the speed down to 3800 and 1900 fclk and everything appeared to be ok until I ran Timespy; crashed on the CPU test. Living happily uncoupled at 4000 Mhz for now.
