MSI MPG 341CQPX QD-OLED - image not centred on screen? (and now some feedback)

Thanks for this, I'm thinking of getting the CQP, as I don't think the Alienware is worth the extra, and I prefer the MSI to the Gigabyte's, which are also more expensive. I came to the same conclusion you have re: the CQPX, the 240HZ is probably not worth another £200, as an AMD user I like that both comes with AMD Freesync Premium Pro.

I game in the dark, so I think glossy panel sounds like it would be ideal for me. I'm currently on a 32" 4K IPS, and tbh I don't think the resolution is worth the FPS hit, definitely not when put against a 1440p UW OLED, and all those advantages it has. That's my feeling right now anway.

No worries. Yeh that's my view 175Hz is plenty and save the £250.00. If you are gaming in dark then no issues for you ref the glossy screen. Perhaps if you're used to 32" 4K then the sharpness/clarity might not be as good because pixel density is less on the 34" ultra-wides. I'm happy with what I see, but I've not used a 4k 32" so sadly can't offer comparison in that regard.

Good write up @Az_GTi. Would it be fair to say that you're slightly underwhelmed with the MSI? Like @Apex I'm considering both the MPG and the MAG versions but worried that moving from my existing 34" UW (non OLED) screen to either will be a somewhat sideways move.

How do you find the text clarity coming from the IPS panel? How annoying/impractical is the stand (it gets a lot of hate in the reviews)? Is the 200 pounds difference in the models worth it?

cheers.

Cheers. I wouldn't say underwhelmed, it's just I knew what to expect with OLED as I got a Samsung S90C TV end of last year and that had a wow factor compared to my 10 year old screen. I didn't get such a wow factor replacing my Acer X34, but the colours are certainly nice and extra Hz for smoother gaming is welcome. Knowing what I know now with real world hands on experience I would buy the MAG version and save the £200-£250. Frankly I don't see a difference between 175Hz and 240Hz and the 98W USB-C doesn't really matter to me. But both of those things might be important for you.

I find text clarity fine and same as my old X34, certainly no worse. Browsing is comfortable for me, but I expect a 32" 4K would be better due to extra pixel density. Probably if I was more patient should've just waited until higher resolution 34/38" ultra-wides come to market - must be on radar soon. I just get fed up of waiting and never actually getting and enjoying as there is always something else around the corner.

Yeh the base is chunky but doesn't offend me. Very similar to the X34 I was used to. Personally for my use I like the wide spread legs as I can position the screen close up behind my gaming wheel for racing games.

Well folks, I bought the MAG and I'm very impressed with it. I was used to the form factor already but the OLED display is something else. Text legibility is slightly down on my previous screen but barely noticeable unless you're looking for it. Very happy indeed! @Apex - go for it!

Very pleased you're happy with it!

:)

Realised mine was 341CQP
No x at the end
So only 175hz but using a 3080ti with it

But anyway
Has anyone tried the new bios mentioned?
Have Flashed mine 3 times now
Says succeeded each time
But the menu still says version 17
So not sure what's going on
Since it should be saying version 25 after flashing it

4070 Super for me. I got told in the other thread not to go down the 4K/32" route. I'm very, very glad I listened to that and this thread's advice. It's a great screen even at my lowly 4070 Super level :)

I made that mistake. Now I have a 4K monitor that's going to be redundant tommorow and the only realistic way of getting any money back is to CEX it, at a significant loss. Nvm. For someone who is never going to spend £1000 on a GPU, it's just the wrong monitor to begin with, so I thought better to admit the error and just go get the right monitor.

I'm going to run it with my 6700XT in the interim which will be just fine, then get a 7800XT as a holdover to when AMD and NV have new cards out in '25.

Have the changes from the new BIOS taken effect?

Hmmm
Just booted to a different hard drive
And different windows install
Tried again and firmware actually updated first attempt
No idea what's on the first hard drive that's interfering
With firmware update even though it said successful
It actually wasn't

Definitely worked on second hard drive
Turn monitor on now
And it sayd amd freesync pro
Which it didn't before
And the menu now does say version 25

So if anyone has issues with firmware updates
This may be relevant somehow
Just wish I had some idea what's on other windows install
That's interfering
My only guess it's antivirus though had no pop up
Warning from it

Looks like I got in just in time, the deal has gone here and at the other place, very limited places to get one at £650 ish.

Now up to £900.

:D
Ouch
Looks like they added game/game bundle
To justify it
I know which I would prefer
Had it been 900 I wouldn't have got it

I got the game as well for £648. It'd been that price with the game for at least the 2 weeks or so I have been looking at it anyway, so just a huge hike. I had to double check it wasn't the X-240HZ.

:)

What is everyone using HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4?

I didn't get the game with mine
Paid around £650
Even without the game it probably was
The best oled option at the price anyway
They're really taking the #### at £900 for me anyway
At that price would just have gone for the dell dwf

I looked at all the options over and over again and I just kept coming back to this, the AW is nice but not worth the extra money and only HDMI 2.0 IIRC, the Gigabytes were more expensive and no better, and tbh although aesthetics is not a big deal, they looked like crap, and the and 240X just wasn't worth it either.

Yeah i took ages looking and deciding what to get
The jump from this to ones around just over
A grand i just couldn't justify it
4k was sort of doable with a 3080ti
But wasn't going to be close to 4k and 240hz
In the end up I don't regret paying 650 for this
No idea what the stand is like
Didn't take that out the box just shoved it on a £30 monitor arm

The stand is big but that's not an issue really, as you've found I have a ton of desk space, but I might look at a monitor arm later.
