MSI MPG x870e Carbon WiFi Owners

Hope that went ok, you haven't posted since!
All good ;)

Spent a few hours after seeing what my 64G trident Z kit was capable of so lots of reboots and no time to post on the boards.

So far 6600 is no go, errors quickly in a 10 min stress test. 6400 looks like it may be OK but the temps creep up higher than I'd like at the moment. 6200 is totally fine, so I'll likely not spend too much more time on ram tuning at the moment.

I don't fully have cooling airflow in the build yet, just an open case with AIO attached and no case fans installed yet, and I had to bump the DDR voltage 1.5v so that 6600 would boot, 10 min memory stress at 6400 with 1.45v makes the sticks creep up towards 60c. I guess I'll maybe wait until the build is finished and the fans are installed to do any more ram tuning. I said to myself I wasn't going to, but I can't help myself when it comes to overclocking!

Haha that’s the situation I’m in right now, CPU ordered but I have no idea what batch I’m in and all the other components are sitting on the table.

I ended up picking this motherboard for the io on the back in combination with the m.2, hoping it can last a good 5 years or so without needing to switch over.

Hope your build goes well!

Probably my final ram oc/tune for a while, been enjoying games on this board/cpu and keen to stop twiddling:

Yep same reasons here, I have the following with the pair of 980s using the lanes from the second I/O die

Code:
  - M2_1 990 Pro
  - M2_2 empty
  - M2_3 980 Pro
  - M2_4 980 Pro

I've gone and bought a 7800x3d that's coming today, just so I can get this thing built and up and running.

I don't think I will have a 9800x3d in my hands until in the new year the way stock supplies are going,

I refuse to pay extra to scalpers on eBay, hence getting a second hand 7800x3d to play with in the mean time :D may have cost me more, but I stand by what I think of scalpers!

It's donkeys since my last build, I think in 2018 I bought Win 10 for around £30 from some website, I see plenty Youtube builds with links to similar deals, what are you guys using to get Win 11 pro (24H2) version at a good price?

And regarding the BIOS update, since this is my first MSI board, is it like ASUS ie. download the BIOS on a USB drive and update?

Cheers
if you logged your microsoft account to the win10 key it will follow you so to speak

Niiiiiiice :)
Wow!! Its arrived already!! Postie must have pooped the bed! never had our mail and parcels this early before!!

Got to put up some string xmas lights around the front of the house before I can make a start on the build! Yes under my wifes orders! and no they are not going on yet! Just making the most of the kinder weather atm!

Mem is not coming until Monday, but have some DDR5 I can use for now from one of my Intel builds.

Ugh, the thermistor cable is not in the box :( I wanted to set some of the case fans based on this. Even more annoyingly while the header on the board is two pins I can't re-use another thermistor cable from an old board because they've surrounded the pins with a "connector" shroud that doesn't allow standard two pin cables to attach. Just..... why?

Hmmm mines stuck on a C5 error

Any ideas?
I can't find C5 in the manual error codes, I would maybe re-seat/check the RAM, and also maybe even the CPU (annoying I know). If no-go after re-seating the RAM, re-seat the CPU but after you take it out maybe double check the pins in the socket. They can be quite sensitive :(

I'm just thinking that since the code is not in the manual the system can't POST at the moment.

Also, you did plug in both CPU power supply cables in the top left and they are seated correctly?
All sorted,

Didnt like booting up with 2x 32GB Sticks in it, after posting with 1 its fine with the other now.

Next question lol, I have a Logitech G502x Can I get it to work in the BIOS? NOPE!!

Flashed to the latest BETA BIOS now. 7E49v1A17(Beta version)

Did you remember that two sticks go in slot 2 and 4? e.g. second slot channel A, and second slot Channel B
Yep sure did :)

2x Corsair Vengeance 6400, Just trying to sort out this mouse issue in the BIOS now.

Then to setup my raid set with the M.2 drives 3x 2TB WD Black SN850X's Just going to use Raid 0 for capacity, this will be my gaming machine so nothing important on it.

Used slots 1, 3 & 4 as I believe slot 2 (sure I saw it somewhere) would reduce PCIE slot 1 to x8

I've found the only port that works with wireless devices is the USB BIOS Flash port.

Are you guys having the same experience?

So how do you use a wireless keyboard and mouse before installing an OS

Ok, I can live with using the keyboard to get around the BIOS, but dare I say it, coming from having Intel setups for the last 10 years its a bit of an odd choice :D

The BIOS even lists the devices plugged into the USB ports, they just don't appear to function yet, due to drivers I'm guessing.
