MSI MPG x870e Carbon WiFi Owners

What’s the purpose of the thermistor? Is it just a tc to show the temp at whatever area you leave the sensor end? Where is the temp displayed?
Yeah, it's exactly this. I've used one in the last couple of builds and had it somewhat half way between the top of the case and the GPU card, then used that in case fan profiles. Temp is not shown until a cable is connected, and is not not always listed in desktop utilities, but almost always available as a sensor for fan profiles.

Short update, last parts arrived yesterday, got it powered up, BIOS updated, Windows install, Connect3 installed and setup, so far it works great, far better than anything Corsair, my system was a combo of iCue (which was terrible) and Argus monitor (which was not bad) min MB drivers etc, no GPU yet until I'm ready to switch to the new system.

Are you folks installing MSI centre? Does that control the MB RGB and RAM RGB, I prefer to keep software to a min and only install what I need.

Anything other must have drivers and software before I move onto installing the 2nd M2 into M2_2 and then getting Steam on etc?

I will set RAM to EXPO tonight, I also opened a defect enquiry with the vendor I bought from, and a ticket with MSI, to see if I can get a new M2 cover shipped due to the defect graphic.

Cheers

Hey,

So MSI Centre is required to install Mystic Light, which controls the motherboard RGB, it may control you RAM also, The only nice thing about MSI Centre is you can tell it not to run on startup.

Once you've got your RGB how you want it motherboard wise you dont need to load it again, handy to keep installed though in case you want to make any changes.

Regretting going with this motherboard right now. I’ve finally put the CPU, memory, m.2 in and it’s not even reaching bios.

When I press the power button the ram lights up and all the fans start spinning, but the debug led jumps through various numbers before the motherboard just turns everything off.

The debug led error code usually shows 15 before it turns off, which in the manual is “Pre-memory system initialisation”, what are the chances both ram modules (which are on the QVL) are faulty?

Ok I think there’s something magical about this forum because it’s working now (or at least, it’s reaching the bios without issue)

Hey,

So here ya go,

The image would usually fill the screen, you can see numbers on the right on the black space also.

So top, bottom, left and right sides are missing, when you load in its fine, its when you start to drill down into menus.

Wonder if its because I'm using an Monitor that's essentially a TV The Gigabyte FO48U.

Never had this issue with the Intel based MSI Z790 MPG Carbon Wi-Fi

I checked mine on that page an looks completely different, you seem to be zoomed in only seeing half the info. The numbers on the far right are a bit weird. I took a pic so you can see yourself. Gonna update the bios now and check it's still all ok.

Yup, its really weird!

I thought it was because all the BIOS are beta, others on reddit say its happened on previous boards if your using a TV,

Also I cannot get my wireless mouse to work in the BIOS, only 1 port on the back of the board seems to work in the BIOS, so its either keyboard or the mouse.

Not sure if i've got a faulty board as such, as everything else works fine.

It looks like a tv screen ratio problem, like it’s zoomed in. You have some sort of monitor to use during setup? My wireless mouse works with the dongle plugged in the front usb of case with no probs, not sure how to help with that
