If this is true then i'm scrapping the stick with 775 plan... what is the release date on i5s anyway?
i5 will be released next Tuesday (8th).

AFAIK it's i5's platform, not C2D etc.
Well I'm on P35 right now, and I was thinking it would be worth holding out for a p55, but if it's not gonna take my chip I may as well just stay with P35.
Am fairly certain P55 is for socket 1166, never really understood the point in it, i7/X58 is fairly well priced these days.
P55 is for socket 1156. It was made to make the gap between Core 2 Duo/Quad and i7 (X58) smaller. The MSI rep even said that i5 still dosen't bridge the gap, and there is still a huge gap between i5 and i7 (X58).
I really don't see the point in going i5, especially now it'd definate that i9 will be released on the 1336 socket.

An i5 would be easily suitable for people who are looking to upgrade now and don't have the money for an i7 system.
It will last the next few years and by that time you will need to upgrade anyway and there will be plenty of new toys better than i7.
Hey, good deal! All you who are saying you'll get one "to sell on" or "to mess around with" or "for the hell of it": leave one for me -- I actually want to use it as the basis of my new platform.
