The 4211 seems very popular.

Is it pretty much apples and Pears between this and the Asus Eee PC 1000 or is there a reason why the 4211 is popular in this thread.

For me it was availability of the 4211 and price. Very similar spec in crucial areas yet quite a bit cheaper. Think the only thing the 4211 lacks is N spec wireless.
Battery life on 4211 is not great though but I understand a higher capacity battery will be available.

im managing about 2hours which isnt too bad, ill probs just get another 3 cell battery when they become available cheap enough

I get about 2 hours too which is not that bad, just a shame it isn't the 4 hours plus of the 901.
Will be interested to see what the 6 cell batteries are like when they arrive.
Re my comment on n wireless. Just swapped the board on my 4211 for a Broadcom draft n card I had and it installed fine

Also added an extra 512Mb I had

Probably killed the warranty but hey - live dangerously. lol

I bought one of these for my wife (so she can take it to courses etc) and its brilliant. Fast enough for all the normal things we do on a laptop (office applications, web browsing etc). The screen is excellent as is the keyboard. The battery life is ok but compared to my X80r behemoth (8800mGTX) its really rather good (2+ hours vs about 30 minutes (X80r gaming)).

The only thing wrong I can think of is the fact it comes bundled with all the backup software on DVD's yet it has no DVD drive... :confused:

. Surely a SD card or USD stick pen would have been a better option?!

got mine yesterday. Did the Bios update and also the wireless update. Its a super little machine. Just need to get a 3G USB stick now

no i just updated the drivers from MSI site. It made a big difference as i was suffering dropouts before

oh i c, ive been totally impressed with the wifi on mine and unless windows update has updated them they are the ones that came.

Bradmax57..way to go... u are really inspiring me to get this and update stuff... I work in the land of the purple shirted bods...( soon to be PINK shirts!!!!! ) and have been umming and arrring about the 4211 for a week or 2.
I'm thinking of getting one for portable music recording .. not too many tracks/midi sequencing...anyone know if the processor could handle that ok as its not tooooo stressful...??
