MSI's X570 Tomahawk May Become Go-To OC Board??

updated last night.takes around 5 mins or so. boot-up is a little quicker, maybe a second or so. No issues other than remember (unlike me) that it'll reset bios back to defaults, so my mem setting went back to 2666mhz, and I lost all my fan profiles...which of course I can't remember !

task manager tells me bios takes 17.2 seconds. And then it's 5 seconds from there to desktop. For those looking to shave some time of boot, I noted that my old bluray drive was holding back the bios by a few seconds. So as it's rarely used and I can take the top of my case without having to pull the case out, I've pulled it's sata cable.

I was the same. Fan profiles wasn't to bad. I did save my mem and cpu OC. But it wouldn't work. I tried foe the last 48 hours to go back to 3800mhz CL14 and IF to 1900mhz but it just won't work anymore.

I'll have to try again on Monday so I'm now XMP and PBO. It's been a nightmare lol

Similar story here re: losing all settings after the update. Photo'd everything in the settings pages with my phone before I started, so got everything back right. Just time consuming! :)

Anybody gone from a B450 board to this one? opinions. Specifically I have the B450 version. Initially I was going to buy the onboard Wi-Fi would have been handy but now I've moved my pc to sitting room and I'm hooked up to router via ethernet. One thing that was rubbish on B450 version was on-board audio so I bought a soundblaster zxr. Is it better? I would love 2x M2 slots.Or should I just keep £220 and put towards next gen graphics card.

How does this board work with both M2 slots populated? If i was to populate both M2 slots with NVME drives does this have any effect on the 1st PCI slots in regards to lanes?

I know my Asus Crosshair VII X470 brings the 1st slot to x8 if using an NVME in the top m2 slot.

I had a msi b450 mortar max and upgraded and no regrets either.

Well I just pulled the trigger after much should I shouldnt I. So should be building this week. Cracking reviews on this board and hopefully should last me a good few years. The build quality on this board is so good MSI could actualy be making a loss at the price, but to get the rep of the X570 boards back they released it. So quite excited. Its just a pain im going to have to redownload all my games again after re installing windows on the new board.

Good call you wont be disappointed!!

Yeah cheers all I will be happy to join the club. I dont think ive heard anything bad at all about this board, and certainly for the price you get a lot of value so it was an easy desicsion in the end. Yeah Smiffy-UK we indeed have very close specs so im now more than confident im going to be happy. I watch hardware unboxed all the time and Steve did a great comparison on those charts, the tomahawk not far off the more really pricey X570 boards so amazing really.

Well I bit the bullet on the X570 Tomahawk and it arrived yesterday. Really nice board, all setup easy enough. Running my Ballistix sport 3200 XMP @ 3600.

Does anyone know if there as any Audio tweaking software for the onboard audio chip? I installed the latest Realtek driver from the MSI site but sound is configured using the Windows sound settings.

Edit... Never mind, it installs an App in the start menu :p

Gigabyte have had that one on the X570 range too for a few weeks now? [2‎.07.21.306]

I haven't touched it though, still using the latest from AMD

any changelog?
as i see the intel wifi and the other thing have been updated today also

Not that I could find officially, I've installed (through device manager) the WiFi drivers as I was having issues with my WiFi, I've got a feeling they're still in beta as why are they not on AMDs website.

I had issues with my WiFi sometimes dropping and it was because of WiFi 6 not playing ball with my Virgin Hub 3. I changed the adapter setting to not use WiFi 6 protocol and everything’s been fine since.

Hi guys,

Thought's on fan profile settings, any "how to's", I've got 2x PWM front 120mm Arctic fans on 1 header, 2x PWM internal 120mm Arctic fans, 2x PWM Corsair on the rad, and 1x PWM rear Arctic exhaust fan.

I haven't set anything up in the bios yet as I've always used a manual fan controller unit this build.

Thanks.

I gotta be honest @slipd, I set them to a point where I can barely hear 'em and I leave 'em alone. What's your CPU cooling setup and case?

Ha, well my setup isn't exactly loud at the moment anyway but I thought I'd see what the deal is with PWM fans after always using a controller until now. Not even started to think about overclocking yet :D

Case is an Antec P280, using a Corsair AIO H100x. What temp monitor is everyone using for observing temps in Windows these day? I'm on Speedfan from my last build still but it isn't working properly with my Ryzen.
