Multiple US states ban the sale of high end gaming PC's.

I play Nintendo Switch these days, so not huge power for gaming.

However, if Boris tells me that I can no longer use my air-con (which is rated around the same wattage as a gaming rig), then I think I will murder him :p

Apples to goldfish.

An electric car is typically more energy efficient than a petrol one (but the energy density of it's "fuel" is worse), as you can never get the same level of efficiency from a small petrol engine as you can from a large one that is running constantly at the optimum rpm in the best environment connected up to a generator.
There are temperatures and speeds at which they run far more efficiently, with a car engine you might hit that doing ~50mph on a great quality, flat long stretch of road but rarely at most other times.
I was thinking more of all of these electric vehicles draining the grid when on charge and they're worried about computers. Fast chargers that would possibly need a three phase supply here in the UK depending on other factors or hours on charge on a slower charger type.

Maybe the answer is petrol powered PCs?

Makes me wonder if some manufactures will just start including a bunch of cheap expansion cards for free so their pc's meet the exemption criteria in those states :p.

Does seem like a really weirdly specific and odd regulation though. I don't imagine the power saving will be that great either for all the inconvenience it will cause with every company having to do the maths on each PC they sell and apply to get them certified etc.

If they're serious about this they need to stop the mass selling to Bitcoin miners thats draining huge amounts of energy some countries have been having blackouts because the electricity grid can't cope!

The National Grid is already worried its saying there may be power cuts if everyone plugs in their cars during peak daytime.
