Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I wonder how many rules, regulations and possibly laws you broke there?

I spoke to the officer/private security you see in the first clip. They were fine with it.
But yea, it's not something i would attempt again.

Hi all,

I am thinking of raiding my DHI Phantom v1 (Naza-m 1) and transplanting everything into a F550.

What do I need to do ? Obiviously I will be using 6 rotors now, will be using stock phantom remote control, so just using the phantom receiver, will be transplanting the status LED but NOT the 'directional under arm' LED lights (want to save every ounce)

Any advice, most appreciated :)

Wanting to do it as the phantom carries my go pro and gimbal, as well as GPS tracker and a water bouy.......it flys for 5-6 mintues so im heavy weighted, a couple more rotas and a 4S battery would balance it nicely IMO.

Thanks :)

Will be using new:

- 1 x DJI F550 Quadcopter Frame
- 6 x 30A OPTO ESC
- 6 x 2212 Motor

and just using the current 9" carbon fibre blades I already have.

Anything i'm missing here or will need to fly the coptor?

Slowly getting the hang of flying the quad. Got an Ideafly iFly4, as it was ex demo its got the camera gimbal on it.
It crashes really well ;)

I am surprised that you didn't have some over zealous plain clothes policeman tazer you to a crisp tbh :p

Well that took an age!
My £15 WLtoys v272 finally came in the post yesterday about a month after ordering it. I've flown it around a bit and it's pretty good, no complaints for £15.

Thanks da_ging for posting the original link :)

For anyone else that wants one of these fun little buggers they are on offer at £14.69
just use the coupon code us6 , I'd also pick the US warehouse as that should be quicker for delivery.

On a different note has anyone here got one of those rather nice looking Hobbyking Y-3 Fiberglass Tri frames?

That's all you will need, just remove the XT60 cable if you don't have one for your F550, Also you will need to figure out how to mount the compass and Gps on it but I'm sure loads of people have done it by now on YouTube or something.

Top right, what is she? I've been bashing about a HK FPV250 for a few weeks buts its a constant battle to keep everything neat and tidy. Mobius hung of the front and vtx hung of the back, not the most crash resistance

Nice collection though ;)

Just picked up a hubsan X4 and had lots of fun today, my first RC flying toy. Realise it's not a serious piece of kit but - hooked!

Any tips on where to go from here?

Finding it really difficult to control after I face it in another direction, need more practice :)

Yesterday mornings flight resulted in me getting mooned while FPV. This is a cropped image, I was a good 20m from them...

I was maybe 1/4 of a mile away in a hidden car park, so the shock of seeing the Phantom must have caused this reaction. :)

It took me a long time to get used to and it comes with practise and crashes.

I trained myself by flying in a square, forwards a bit then rotate 90 degrees, then keep doing that. this way you only need to focus on 2 operations. Then try the same starting at 90 left/right sp you go left a bit then rotate 90, then left a bit then rotate 90. After mastering that you can start mixing a bit to get the curve in your flight.
