Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Location for the BNUC-S is better for me actually but several people have told me that the RPQ-S course is better and easier to pass. Hmm.

Got some good airtime with my FPV250 frame today. Got a bit of wobble that I can't tune out though :( Seems these Multistar ESCs are just a touch too slow. Next on my shopping list is some Afro preflashed ESCs and a big bunch of props!

I don't know if any of you saw this in the news (it wasn't widely reported), but Spain has banned all commercial use of UAVs. http://www.thespainreport.com/4617/...-use-across-whole-country-commercial-purpose/

It looks like Spain are planning some new regs but aren't ready yet. Until they are ready they've banned all commercial use.

I like this quote: ""technically an aircraft piloted by remote control is considered a drone when it has a commercial or professional use”, underlining that model aircraft are “exclusively” those used for leisure or sport"

I read that the runner only got frighted by the multirotor dropping near her and tripped and fell, it never touched her. But could have.

Yeah, that's what I read too but it was widely reported that the MR had slammed in to her.

We are going to have to put up with more and more of this I'm afraid. I've already had one neighbour tell me not to film his property with my "drone" while I was motor testing at about 1M altitude in my back garden.

Is there a topic here for anyone that fly's ''fixed wing'' / planes

I've got a Spektrum DX6i. Just modded it to have a backlight using the kit from here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Turnigy-B...s_RadioControlled_JN&var=&hash=item2ed11c26c7

I went for the blue one. Now I've seen these 2 items

Vibration alert http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191143620...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

3M Screen protection http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spektrum-...sGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item2ed11c2a66

Have mailed the seller to ask if the vibration 'Extreme Kit Plug and Play' works with the screen plug and play.

Also been seeing a few mods using 2s Lipo's around the 400/500 mAH size and tempted to do it. One person got 7 hours out of his left running on a 350 mAH

It's a legitimate concern tbh, albeit a little naive.

I'm thinking that FPV is going to be my next step

I've seen the Fatshark teleporter v3 at $200 on hobbyking, a lot of people saying the res isn't very good but is it good enough to start out?

I've also got a miniOSD that I'd like to hook up and some people suspect that you might not have a good enough resolution on the teleport goggles?

If it is worth the extra money then I'd probably spend the extra on the Predators, as it is only another $80

what does everyone else use? I see a lot of people using screens but doesn't that cause problems in direct sunlight and also having to attach it somehow to the radio or similar

I knew that would be the case in space but wasn't sure if it could get close to the edge.

I guess it would be possible to haul up a glider on a balloon and release it / fly it back down? That'd be pretty trick.

The reason I'm asking is some students in my school designed and made a weather balloon which went to the edge of space and I'd quite like them to have another shot at it next year, but this time taking it to the next level!
