Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I feel your pain. My Sunnysky motors have been languishing somewhere at the airport since 31st July. USPS/RM/Parcelfarce are all denying any knowledge or referring me to each other. *sigh* Still, I suppose it's only been 1 Month since they were posted.

Love the sky in that last picture! Much post processing or did it really look that good straight off?

I just used a preset in picasa which adds HDR, I'll find a link to the original.

Looking for a FPV kit mainly the Predator V2 kit for around £240. Anyone got these or know how good they are and what the picture quality is like through the goggles?

I have that kit, it's my first setup and I love it, yeah it could be a bit better picture but it's only 640x480 and I'm only using a gopro for the camera which is apparently pretty rubbish for fpv so im getting another fpv cam next week. I'll test it then and see what it's like and try and look at the dominators and compare them to see if the difference is worth the price. In all honesty though they do me just fine, I can see what I need to and for me a much better experience. I think the farthest I have gone is about 7-800 meters and it was perfectly clear although I do have an immersionRC 600w transmitter and spironet antennas.
A set went on the bay just the other day for £150 so you could get them cheaper aswell.

Seems to be a lot of people already doing FPV, can you all fly LOS competently (banked turns) or have you just jumped straight into it?

I am kinda jumping in to it but will be using it initially for straight up, snap shot, straight down stuff... or flying with stick relativity... it will be a while before I am ready for full on FPV.

So long as I get my FPV gear... grrr

Sorry. Thought you were heading down the route of a thread I saw on an RC forum where a guy was ranting that DJI should enforce restrictions on their kit so that you couldn't fly fully until you had 'proved' you were good by performing a lot of manoeuvres. Apparently it was to stop people flying in dangerous areas, except he seemed ignorant of the fact that having skills has absolutely no bearing on if your an idiot :p.

Nothing foolproof to a talented fool

I can LOS but not nearly as well as i fpv (which isn't saying much in the grand scheme of thinks) :)

My LOS is ok, not as good as I want it to be though as I sometimes have to chicken out and flip back to altitude lock, gps lock and let go of the sticks on my Blade 350qx.

I wanted to be pretty confident flying LOS before going on to FPV so I started with the little Hubsan X4 and then a FPV250 build but for a while I would just fly it facing forward so no inverted controls. Then I started using Phoneix RC 5 flight sim and now with my 250 I can fly it pretty well in any direction but no flips or anything, that's why now I'm thinking of moving on to FPV.

I can fly los fine as long as it's close enough to see, not that good at full acro as I have become too reliant on self level after playing with the hubsan x4 for so long.

Fpv is just so much easier to fly, The battlefield series has helped immensely as I don't crash at all now :D

I really need some leds to help with orientation for non fpv flight, I thought a tri would be easier than a quad but it's just as hard :(
