still rather confused about the world of tri and quad copters, I would really like to upgrade from something bigger than my Hubsan x4 , twice the size or more preferable. Something I can use outdoor without worrying too much about the wind, I have a budget of roughly upto £150 ish if anyone could offer me some suggestions it would be much appreciated

Been looking at getting one of the smaller quadcopters for a wee treat, torn between the Syma X5C and HUBSAN X4 H107.

Thoughts?

From what I hear the Syma is more stable quieter and not as nippy as the Hubsan, but being a hubsan x4 owner myself I can tell you it stable fun to fly (indoors only really) and lots of fun however it is pretty loud.

I also heard the range wasn't great on the Syma, though I don't know what it is like in comparison to the Hubsan.

I am looking for a drone with video HD capability, im not sure whether the build it yourself kits offers what I want from it, suppose I need to read this whole thread. Basically I want it to do exactly what the DJI phantom 2 vision + does (without the expense).

Only issue I can see at the moment is - £53 shipping!!!!!! as most of it's out of stock/back order at the Uk warehouse - so most of it's from international warehouse. That seems mental!

It's a good deal but......

What the Vision 2+ does won't come cheaply I'm afraid. There are other options available. Sadly, the parrot drone isn't one of them. Range is only 200' ish and 1000mah battery is probably only going to get you about 10 minutes of flight time.

What frame is that? Trying to get my brother to invest in a custom setup rather than the drone parrot thing mentioned above.

You might want to consider a Power Distibution Board - Makes hooking everything up a bit easier. I think HK do one with bullet connectors too.

You will need an adapter from the charger to the battery. The XT60 one won't work (I don't think) as the battery has a different connector on it.

Other than that, just bullet connectors if you're not going to direct solder everything (does make it a bit easier) heatshrink, wire, cable ties, sticky backed velcro, battery strap, either some nylon standoffs and nuts (M3) or some sticky pads to mount the FC.

All of those available from HK quite cheap, so it would probably pay to get them with the rest of your order and you will need them.

It's probably as you have Lipo's in the order.

You should be able to get it in the UK at a similar or lower price. Just needs a gopro adding then. Similar price to the spec above and a whole lot better.

cheers - If I play about with the order a bit I can get the lipo/transmitter etc from UK and reduce shipping to around £25 on the international stuff.

It says if you're in the EU it's 699 euros, which is mental money. Plus the cost of a gopro.

One thing about getting Lipos fron the Int w'house..... I think it means you can specify DHL for the delivery option, so you will get the order fairly rapidly and you won't get charged the handling fee that RM stack on. I've had a couple of things delivered from China/HK via DHL recently and they have been nothing short of brilliant. Only took 3 days from despatch and they sent me a text to tell me I had a fee to pay, did it online and all was good as no waiting around for UK customs to kick it around the warehouse a bit, lose it, find it, forget to deliver it, forget to send me note about customs etc, all of which happened with my delivery from the states!!

The one you listed the spec of doesn't have a tx/rx and once you add in postage, all the other associated gubbins (wires, plugs, time etc) it would be pretty close to the cost of the walkera, if not above it.

Also, Walkera make this How much of a viable alternative to the go pro it is though, I don't know.

Cheers. I have no idea where to look other than hobbyking.

Does that do live video transmission? Doesn't appear to, would need to get that included to seal the deal.
