Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

They are pretty good, probably on par with a 6x3 prop, got them just to try out but 3 blades are inherently inneficient vs. the equivalent 2 blade prop. Also they break if you look at them :)

I have a bunch of gemfans 5x45 ordered to try out.

I also got a turnigy thrust test stand for which I've been meaning to benchmark these props for ages on!

I may give them a try one day, but I think its hard enough trying not to break props with two blades, having 3 blades on there increases the chances of damaging them more :p

It might just be becaused I crashed a bit with them, but I think the 2 blade props have more chance to be pushed in out of harms way, with 3 there is always one of the blades that decides it's happier in the ground.

Wheres the best place to get spares for Hubsan X4 (V2) H107 quads?

I'm looking for blades, batteries and a blade protector. Search the net but seem to only find cheap kit from China!

Also, I'm buying my second X4 today after my last one flew away! Totally calm day with zero wind and I'm flying it around the garden then from nowhere a really strong gust took it a good 50 meters (with no throttle as I was trying to land safely) into a building site. An hour of looking and I gave up! RIP little buddy, you will be avenged!

Just had first go fpv with the 250. Enjoyed it, much easier to do rate mode in fpv than los.

Still had to flick back to horizon a few times. My Mobius was low on battery though didn't capture anything.

No broken props as I found and area of soft grass near the football pitches I was at the other day. Plus landings were reasonable and no crashes

Need to sort out my fpv mounting posions for the 250 as its just sort of crammed in. I want to be able to use it with the 450 also so need to be able to quickly dismount it.

Damn :( how much for repairs? What you going to do with the arm? Antenna sma ? You mean the screw on antenna, or the module it screws in to?

Prophet, try banggood.com.

DJ, the biggest expensise in FPV is the goggles and you have those. You can use the Mobius as an FPV camera so if I were you I'd just get a second vtx for the 450 and a cable for the Mobous and then you just need to transfer the camera over when switching quads.

Cool will look in to it, depends how much it comes too, still need to upgrade the antennas.

If some of the cheaper vtx work like the £13 ones from hobbyking that should be OK, don't really want to fork out 50 odd quid for a fatshark one though would probably just swap the vtx and leave the fatshark camera in one model and use the Möbius to be used in either also

So long as it works with Fat Shark or ImmersionRC gear a vtx will be fine. There will be cheaper ones that work than just the Fat Shark branded ones.

2x spare arms are £7 but makeibuildit are out of stock. So I'll probably buy another frame and cannibalize the kit.

The SMA connector on the VTx got ripped out, not sure I can solder it back either as it stripped the board clean... Also it might have been damaged as it was powered without an antenna for a few minutes after the crash.. So might be a new VTx. Might splash out and try the 600mw but I need to find a way to ziptie the antenna to the frame and protect the VTx more.

I did read a few comments saying that it worked with fatshark.

I will probably go for them but not yet. Need to limit spending atm because of car tyres, servicing, mot coming up and I want upgraded antennas next.

Damn :( yeh that's the only thing is stock levels in the UK

Hope you get it sorted and flying

I'm charging up 3 batteries and my Mobius and going to have another go at flying fpv this morning. Hopefully I will catch a little footage. If its half decent I will post it up. No special locations just my new big practise fields

What you want is an SMA extender to a through panel/bulkhead connector. That way, if the antenna gets snagged, it should damage the connector before the VTX. I'll see if I can dig some links...

6" is probably way too long, there are shorter available. The end with the nut can go through a hole cut in the frame. This does mean that the fame (if CF) will be joined to ground (be careful of live cables/solder joins!)

e3: DJMK4, I got fed up of my Mobius being flat/forgetting to charge it etc! If you got the FPV cable with it (couple of quid on eBay), there is a USB to servo connector just for 5V. Hook this up to a 5V BEC/ESC and never worry about charging it again ;) Couple of grams is worth it IMO

This video impresses me and winds me up in equal measure :):(

Its very nice flying and filming. Reading the comments section does boil the proverbial though. i just wonder what the outcome would have been if someone had been hit by the quad?

Oh well still cant find the cam. Possibly new mobius

This hobby just keeps asking for more, damnit

After an hour found it. Had to cut down so much forrage. Was under mud. Thank you to my foot sweep I luckily found it

What made it annoying is I was searching a 5-8 meter radius from the crash site, possibly the worst thing to be searching for something in, and I was finding tiny bits of prop in no time.

Just checking out the video files now, you can hear me f'in and blinding to myself trying to look for it :p Its unbelivable that I actually knocked it with my foot a few times within the first 10 mins, but took me an hour to find it.

I will post a video up but its not that great to be honest, it was windy today so pretty hard to control and wind meant slow flying in to it.

I also found a useful thing for RSSI if you are flying FPV on your own and it comes down, if you want to track down the quad to a radius of say 5-10 meters using RSSI to track it is pretty handy. Just find the general direction you think its in, start walking towards it, usually 80/90 + indicates your very close, if it goes back down your not heading in the right direction. Useful if your flying in longer grass and cant always see it straight away
