Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I know I know - it was simply to check the thing works 10 ft off the deck as I need to pay the chap I bought it from the funds (was a half up front/half on arrival deal). It was 90 seconds flight time - I've got other quads so understand the rules/regs etc.

I'm certainly not going to go mad in the street, I needed to confirm it all worked properly before paying out. Thanks

10ft or 100ft it's still flying. And if you're not sure if it even works then what's to say it won't go crazy or do a fly away as soon as you turn it on? Even more reason to do it away from anything or anyone you could damage, or even tether it.

Yours still seems much faster than mine since mine was tuned down to the values that were given, :(

I am going to try and raise them slowly next time I have an opportunity to get out, I have lost the raceyness to it

Not sure. I think it has video out but you might need to have a look at the website for it. They're still developing and releasing firmware for it, which is good too.

That might be cause that's a newer, faster quad too :)

Not sure. Mine was much quicker but think i have lost some of the punchy power since that time i reduced. Iv taken a snapshot of the pids and going to try raising them slightly when i get a chance to go out

What are peoples thoughts on 180 size quads on 3S?

Currently I have a budget 250 class machine (Emax 280 combo from Banggood) which is 3S only due to the escs, and I have a kitted out ZMR250 V2 with good gear (Little bees, Cobras etc) which is ballistic on 4s when needed on 5045 bull nose props.

The 3S quad is now my backup machine in case I do a motor or something I can't fix at the field.

I fancy a change of air frame and I was wondering how the little ones do on 3S (2300KV motors) with 4045 bull nose props?

I'd probably get the ZMR180 from FPV model, but would shell out on a Tweaker 180 or Thug 180 if they're worth the extra dosh.

I did just want to jump in feet first but thanks to the lads here I'm going for a Hubsan to start with and get familiar.

There's quite a number of Hubsan X4 (no camera with LEDs) types, any preferences towards a particular model?

Anyone try the Hubsan JDX 388?

Sorry guys not been on here much, been busy with work, flying, upgrades and getting my PFAW.

Got a baby due any min now so just playing with bits.

Dan sold me his DJI Naza V2 which is going on a S500 quad for a development project. If the frame dies it's only £14. The BOM is

HobbyWing Xrotor 20A ESC (stock, could flash to BLHeli)
Multistar 2212-920 motors
DJI 9443 Carbons
DJI Naza V2
G2 M8N HMC5983 GPS Compass Module
Flytrex Core V2
FrSky X6R

Need to sort LiPo's for it just unsure what to get, anyone got any ideas?

Today I did a mod to my Taranis X9D Plus, did a LiPo conversion to it. Should last me ages now.

Still working on my ground station. Just got to spray the woodwork and then bolt everything on. A nice 20'' screen all in a flight case.

Charge station to follow, iCharger 4010 duo is what I use.

My main rig uses these http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbykin...0mAh_Multi_Rotor_Lipo_Pack_UK_Warehouse_.html

They are on offer so I went and got more. 18 more :) which means I've now 12 hours solid flying

Any decent cheap screens that I can start building a groundstation with? I use fatshark pred goggles v2 but wanted to see if a decent screen with RX would be cheap enough?

Tbh iv not used my kit in a while :( need to get some air time

Black Pearl.

Rilot, have you seen or heard anything about war risk insurance? I know you don't have a PFAW but also know you keep an interest! What are your thoughts?

I've heard about it but didn't really read anything more about it. I think insurers are getting nervous.

Sweet will have a look

Just went to replace a broken toggle switch on my taranis

Was all going well as you have to solder the 3 prongs onto a small PCB.

However one of the copper pads on the PCB come off! Anyone know If they do replacement small PCBs for these switches? The replacement switch didn't come with one?

T9 HobbySport or BoltRC. I'd speak to Rich at T9.

Can you not jump it?

Don't know how to. I got the switch from T9 but don't know if they would sell the small PCB part.

Doesn't look like it would be an easy fix would just prefer to buy the PCB.

I don't use the switch really but wanted to repair it

I picked up a new bird! I've been waiting for the weather to improve since Thursday when I got her!
