Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Two panoramas and a 360 sphere link, taken from my first time flying inside :)

Sorry, I can't figure out how to post the photos. I just get "Image cannot be loaded from a passed link" error message.

I want to buy myself something andcwould like to try a drone. Had. A tiny one in the past but found I had weird thumbs, a bit arthritic if I am honest anywat came upon this, quite like the price if all goes wrong anyone any thoughts?.

Fair enough.
In my opinion, anything cheaper than those will be a toy essentially. No GPS, no sensors, poor camera, poor video feed. It will be fun for 10 minutes or so but that's about it.

DRL (Drone Racing League) free on Epic games this week (29/09) for anybody wanting a simulator to practice FPV with while the weather is bad :D

I had my first flight with the Avata yesterday, this thing is so much fun using the motion controller. It felt weird in the first few minutes, wearing goggles (for the first time) and controlling it with motions, but soon got used to it.

Only 'issue' I had was the goggles didn't fit my face properly. Tilting them up slightly made them better so I'm going to have to replace the padding. I just got 2 more batteries which should give me around 45 mins flight time.

Are you going to get the FPV controller and try it in manual mode? :)

Do propellors count as 'rotors'? They do the same job.

I'd say they do, that said, 24fps at 4k for around a $1000 AUD (£550 ish according to google) seems a bit of a let down.

I'll probably get one at some point but not for manual. I'll just use it for normal/sport mode. The motion controller is sooo much fun :)

I've also set up the fcc hack, works fine at the moment - until DJI stops people using it.

I'm reliably informed that the spinny things on most quadcopters are always classed as propellers, as rotors are a technically different and separate category.
We have some underwater drones at work. They cost a bit more than this one, though... add a couple more zeroes!

But manual is so much fun!

It does look it, but also looks scary :):o
So long as you have spent some time in the sim (I use liftoff as I don't have an iPhone) it's all good, don't just jump straight in though unless you are very confident with the panic button! you really need that time in the sim to familiarise yourself with the controls but it's not that difficult.
