Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Always half fancied getting on on the drone game and this looks a reasonable price, is it pretty good to get started with?

Tell me its a costco deal without telling me its a costco deal :D

I've got one of those cheap chinese knockoff drones just to try and get used to flying one, before I drop some serious ££ on a prosumer one

Evening All. Im considering getting a drone as a present from my family this year. Im looking for something easy to fly with good range and reasonable flight time. I've seen the Mavic Mini at my local park and it looked oretty impressive. The only thing is the cost of the remote with the inbuilt display kind of put me off. I understand that you can use a phone for viewing but Im not sure if my Oneplus 6t would be up to it.

My budget is about £500. It doesnt need to be a DJI model. I will only really be using it for fun. Thanks for reading

Showing up as £480 for me?

Hi all,

My 12 year old has just announced that he would like a drone for Christmas and I don't have a clue where to start!

He's had a tiny drone previously but it was useless out in the open because a gust of wind had it flying miles away!

Can anyone recommend a decent(ish) drone that is suitable for beginners?

Thanks...

With the price of drones, I'd be having second thoughts about buying one for such a young person. If you can find a cheap one, then maybe it won't hit so hard if he crashes it.

The thing is, the cheap ones are difficult to fly, whereas the DJI one I mentioned practically flies itself and is much easier to fly. However, the OP has not given a budget yet ...

As a DJI Mini 2 owner, I understand what you mean. This is the only drone I've owned, so I'm not familiar with other drones or brands of drones.

I have a DJI. I forget which one. But it’s super way to fly and the software allows you to set high restrictions and have it in beginner mode. Which makes it harder to completely destroy.

Thanks and yes you are right I'm not sure about budget - I don't know how keen I am on spending that kind of money to be honest - especially as its just as likely he'll crash it within minutes!

I'm sure it will be fun as a toy. I mean, you can't really go wrong with £70 as if it's junk, it's not the end of the world.
Just go in with eyes open. Don't expect it to be even close to the capability of something like a Mini 2 or even a Mini 1.
Also, it appears it's 440g and so is subject to the same rules as something like an Air 3.
