Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I paid under £500 for the lot including the DX4, 350, GB200 gimbal and CGO1 camera. Camera isn't meant to be the best but for starters it'll do me as the gimbal has a tray that can take a GO Pro if I decide to add it later.

Just need to order some additional batteries. Was torn between this and the FC40 and the deal on this sort of made me decide to spend the extra £100.

Thanks Demon, that's a great help :)

Just thought I'd mention that you will need to cut two small bits of plastic in the battery compartment, the 260mAH batteries are a bit longer, but with the two bits of plastic removed (very obvious where they are), the battery will easily fit lengthways.

And you will also need to apply a small amount of pressure to the battery where the cable comes out, just to make the width of the battery uniform at that point, nothing too massive, but just enough to make the cable flush with the side, then the battery fits in nice and snug.

I've been using my quad quite a bit over the last couple of days and just getting used to it! I have brain fade when it's coming towards me and I keep correcting the wrong way! but I'm getting better!

Getting the hang of it now...

Don't pay over teh odds on battery's the Eflight one you get with it that cost near £30 lasts as long as a £10 Turnigy

Was just looking at the Overlander ones and the Turnigy EC3 connectors as well. Both are 2200mah instead of the 3000mah that comes with it but are a lot lot cheaper

Finally took the Thorax out. Once I got the hang of it she flew ok. Need to sort out the settings tho (on the tx or naze32), a slight touch on the stick and its all over the place.

Only lasted 1 battery (5 minutes) as fingers were going numb, but impressed.

Compared to this the Vision is so so easy to fly :o

Hahaha Fuzz, use your Landy to climb the tree :D

A step ladder and a bloody long stick got it out. No damage caused.

Yesterday it flew off by itself after it got out of range.
Thank god I live surrounded by fields (and trees). I ran after it until it ran out of battery and ditched itself. :D

At £40 there is no option to do that.. It's effectively a cheap kids toy.

and I think you mean receiver, because telling the transmitter to do something after it's lost signal with the craft isn't going to do jack! ;)

Been playing with my Hubsan X4 and after actually calibrating it I can sort of hover it and I'm just getting to grips with general control. I have a tendency to just drop the throttle as soon as it looks like I'm going near to anything so it just drops out of the sky, so I probably need to avoid doing that. :p

I've been doing the same - but that's why I got an X4, so that I can practice in this way without doing any real damage, and get used to controlling them in general before beginning to research/build my own :)

I've already broken the lead off one battery - so 4 more were delivered today, and I've done the "tape mod" to the 4 new ones - basically wrap a bit of sellotape around the battery, leaving you a tab to pull the battery out with, rather than having to use the lead.
