Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Im very tempted to build my own, my excuse is that I plan on building a cnc router and this would be good practice. I'm dead set on it so im going to make it happen.

And as this is the multirotor thread it is so I can print Frsky d4r-ii mounts and frame parts.... among other things.

My frame has impressed me, it has taken on and survived some pretty hefty nose first full throttle dirt dives though I would expect it to for what it costs.

Yep should sort it

One thing I have had enough of on this model is soldering and desoldering, soldering desoldering, its destroyed pretty much all my escs and motors. Just soldered one motor back on realising that I forgot to reroute the wires through the arm
Connectors would have been much more convenient

This model is slowely becoming a pain and costing me more and more

If it comes to you needing to build anything else I would be happy to do it for you mate. Hate to see someone burn through so many parts/money :(

Thanks for the offer I guess its something I have to sort myself, before I take off anymore motors and escs (so far Iv only taken 2 off, the one side) which has resulted in me screwing up an ESC, and also the motor and ESC wires are way too short, too many solder extension joints

Can I just use the Nyloc method to keep the props on? given the thread directions on these things, what would I need?

I cant go butchering anymore of my wiring, there too short and i really cant extend anymore wires

you can replace all the wire on the esc so it isn't lost I did on the tri.

That what I tried to do earlier, replace the wires however it messed up. Hence why I really dont want to go through it with the others, otherwise I can see me jusy buying a whole new set of ESCS

I will have to order new parts but this time not cut them down as much and bundle up

For fear of being laughed at its taken me a while to get around to asking this question. I want a cheap little quad copter to play with in the house. Similar to the cheap tiny helicopters you get for stockings. Anything recommended for around £30? Happy to pay £50 or more if I need to but it's just going to be used lightly.

Hubsan X4 or similar. The ~10cm micro quad market is growing.

Alternatively something even smaller like the Hubsan Q4.

Just bought a Taranis Plus, getting to grips with it.
I've updated to Open Tx.

Only used it on Phoenix sim so far but feels really nice, gimbals very smooth and precise.

You will enjoy it :) its a good piece of kit

After my complete cuffufal earlier iv managed to have a think and came up with a different way of swapping my motors round with only soldering the ESC power wires

Just unscrew and swap the legs

Why didn't I think of that earlier

Thanks, I am.

Coming from a Spektrum background - which has been flawless for me.

I am really starting to like the Taranis however.

(Timer bug has annoyed me a bit, but that should be fixed in the next update).

What bug is this? I have the taranis plus and didn't know about a bug, BTW what version are you running? I though you couldn't upgrade taranis plus past a certain release unless they have an update for it now.

Still need to do loads on mine like telemetry, voice for switches etc

I'm running 2.0.15 - latest release for the plus.

The bug is if you set the countdown to beep, you get a borked voice instead.

10 seconds, 10 seconds, 10 seconds etc. instead of 10 beeps for 10 - 1

Setting up voice on your switches is very easy, I've not looked at telemetry yet either.

Not noticed that bug although I only use minute counter so it voices every minute

Turn off voice and select beep instead - you will see.

(The obvious work around is to use voice).

I use vibration on my 18, that way you are fully aware of the countdown without disturbing anyone else (I fly indoors at the gym on occasion).

Shame as you could fly in Richmond Park for as long as I can remember.

London is not the best place to fly stuff anyway, too many people, so I can totally understand why they done it
