Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Hmmm, if your going to throw £150 down I would probably build something of a custom small form build, 250, 150 or 300?

that would be without radio gear though, unless you get yourself a cheap set-up.

Here is tonights quick test, you can see by swapping over to new frame, iv not eliminated the slight vibe stutter. No idea what it is, probably one of the motors, although it flys fine.

Whack some music on the video and you dont even notice it. The camera is not vibration proof yet. My 250 is also not tuned (PID) yet

seems to be pretty much what it was before, just need to ensure the VTX and camera stays reliable after some focus issues today

Hi guys, been you tubing is a 'blade glimpse' alright for a start (toy) found it for £150.

I have one of these and it's a lot of fun. The main issue with it is that the camera has a too narrow FoV to be useful for FPV flying. I am about to modify it though.
If you want a toy to play with and have fun flying then a Hubsan H107L is your best bet. Cheap and easy to fly. You can then go ahead and build something better once you know what you want.
The Glimpse is good for what it is but at the end of the day it flies no better than the Hubsan and the FpV is a gimmick at best.

Ooooh, parcel arrived on my desk. A Rakonheli frame kit for my Blade Nano QX FPV.
I've ordered the 7mm motor arms and upgraded motors from MMW so I should finally have an awesome little indoor FPV flier.

This is what it will look like once it's built:

It depends on what I'm doing. If I want a nice, smooth movement then yes, ATTI mode. It's less of an issue with the Inspire though as it's super smooth in GPS mode too.
All of the footage in my Wales clip above was shot in GPS mode.

Brilliant morning with the 250. Nice to have it in the air again.

Iv said to myself the only time I'm going to use horizon mode is on take off. And if I'm in trouble. The rest rate mode. Its going well getting used to it now :)

Today was some normal flying and between trees some with one bigger crash trying to get through small gaps.

3 batteries not one single broken prop

Happy :)

Will put a small video up soon. Not amazing but just a practise video.

Going to start tuning the pids and some point

Practise session from this morning, I need to get some decent foam cut up for my camera, im using a crappy bit at the moment so still some vibes

Rate mode but flying slower to get some practise in

Planning to upload the better quality video tomorrow as my internet is crap where I am

Nice flying DJMK4.

Nice day for it today, here are my raw videos from the forest. I have been upping my rate settings to match my Easyrider sim settings, messed up a few rolls but getting used to it.

Nice flying :) I guess when I start tuning mine it should be a little more snappy and responsive?

You know to build up speed in rate mode, do you pitch it forwards and raise the throttle? at the moment im trying to get the correct balance to fly it fast without pitching too far down, but without it rapidly gaining altitude.

The quad is oscillating from too high PID settings, you might need to lower ever so slightly on the Roll and/or Pitch Axis. Alternatively, set some TPA - this lowers the PID's progressively as when you reach a certain throttle point. Useful if the quad is stable in a hover but shudders when you increase throttle!

Whack some music on the video and you dont even notice it. The camera is not vibration proof yet. My 250 is also not tuned (PID) yet

If the quad is shaking from PID issues, no amount of anti-vibe material will get it out. I think you can tell the difference as vibes from a dodgy motor or prop will be more jello like.

Possibly as a result of the shakes :)

Is this even the case when I havnt even tuned the PID's? why would it be oscillating from too high PID's when everything is on default? iv got to tweak everything yet to dial it in? - I was actually hoping to dial it in so its more snappy, more locked in. So is this going to make the vibrations worse?

I managed to get a lot of the shakes out before using the foam, so it wasnt as bad as what it was now since iv had the new frame, I will use better foam still

I had shakes before and it didnt defocus anything, it was something on the camera that came loose

I must admit looking at your video that high PIDs are the first thing I thought about too. If it's during high throttle it's very likely.

The default settings are a starting point, motor, ESC, battery, weight are all factors which will influence it. Try creating different profiles with different PIDs (maybe one lower, one higher) which you can select with a Tx stick combo before you take off to test and try.

Am I the only one who likes the shudder under WOT? It's like piloting a flying F1 car :D

E: to clarify, my 250 is rock solid, flies amazingly well. Some TPA removes almost all punchout shake but I turned it back off :)

Thats the point, its already default, so does this mean I cant tune up? im essentially going to have to "tune down" and lose performance?

all I want in is a locked in feel.

I will try different profiles, but dont understand why I have this as I thought the naze is supposed to be good out of the box without issues.

IE will tuning it down so I dont get throttle punch vibes will reduce performance?/ make it fly slower etc

Depends on many things. If you are running cleanflight, the PID's for the luxfloat PID controller are almost half what they are for all the others, so you can see that high PID settings and responsiveness aren't necessarily linked. Luxfloat is one of the snappiest and most responsive PID controllers available.

What will possibly have more of a direct effect is the rates and expo. Increasing the former and reducing the latter will make the quad much twitchier or responsive.

It's possible that the shakes made the lens come loose?

^^what he said^^ :)

YES!

What's WOT?

Wide Open Throttle

If it is just throttle punch vibes, then you need to add in TPA (Throttle PID attenuation) which lowers the PIDS as the throttle increases. Start at 0.3 or something and turn it up until they go. It shouldn't affect the responsiveness in normal flight then.

Are you using baseflight or cleanflight?
