Muse - The Resistance

After learning how to play a couple of songs and listening the album twice over I can say that there are 2 stand out tracks.

Unnatural Selection and Mk Ultra. Resistance and Uprising are also great tracks.

The **** track on the album as most albums have ? I Belong to you :p

Just played along to Unnatural Selection, that put a smile on my face :D Especially the chorus.

I dunno, I thought that at first but it's grown on me. It's hilarious, but I can't tell if it's supposed to be! The weakest song by far IMO is Guiding Light.

Exactly. I highly respect them for going down this route. The days of putting on an LP and listening to it from start to finish are over. People pick and mix tracks these days and consume them at random. The thought of a popular band producing such a record which isn't strictly radio-hit friendly is brilliant. By contrast look at bands like Kings Of Leon/Pendulum... both losing their roots for radioplay.
 
It's not growing on me at all. It's infact just made me stick Showbiz on instead, going from crap like Uprising to that dirty Muscle Museum riff just enforces how much I don't like it.
 
I am loving it!

At first I was a bit unsure on Guiding Light and I Belong To You but they have both grown on me now and seem to fit in just perfectly.

My fave tracks have to be MK Ultra and Undisclossed Desire. I also love how epic Exogenesis is. It is definately a distant move from what they have done previously but I don't think it is any less of of an ablum than say Showbiz or OoS it seems to define Muse rather well in my opinion.
 
Like the album and the new(ish) direction. I belong to you and Undisclosed desires are my faves so far. Epic stuff.
 
I've got to say that I love the album and can't wait to see them at the O2. There isn't one stand out song for me, they are really all fantastic in their own way :).
 
Like all of Muse's stuff, I'm sure it'd an excellent grower.

Despite slating it on the forum earlier on, I actually can't get past Uprising.... it's an amazing track. I have to dance to it :o
 
Really loving this, just can't wait to see them again in November now! :)

Has anyone else noticed the way some of the songs have a sort of 'tribute' to their older work, i.e. the start of Resistance has some of the tune from Citizen Erased in it. Really like that - nice touch.

Really don't like it at all, I'm afraid. I like the idea of bands trying new things - but unfortunately this sometimes means you're not going to like it!

I miss the old riffs & stand out songs. Hopefully Matt Bellamy's now got this out of his system & will go back to 'rock', before he finally loses the plot completely!
 
Yeah i'd like a return to Showbiz/Origin personally too. Absolution onwards i'm just not really a massive fan of. Resistance has it's moments, but it's just distinctly average to be honest.
 
Unnatural selection is so fun to play!

I think I'll upload a youtube vid in the next couple of days. Just need to learn the solo / outro.

IMO after listening to the album 9/10 times it is phenomenal. It doesn't top OOS but I'd say it's a close second.

I love every track on it apart from belong to you.
