Muse.

I like Muse, personally thought Absolution was weak and their latest album was a return to their earlier stuff. Can't think of many bad songs off the top of my head, some of the B sides are weak, hence why they're B sides. Map of Your Head is the best song ever though ;)

Hmmm, I don't really know what I mean by it actually. I just feel that black holes sort of fits in with their other albums, Absolution felt considerably more overblown. Without a doubt there are a few songs like that on Black holes but the overarching feel of the album is that the songs are riff driven and that just remind me of their earlier stuff :)

Who do you like? If you are a fan of the Led Zep, did you know they are massive cover artists, no, I mean plagiarists ? :p Everyones got their bad with their good.

Try jumping in at the start of the thread, it will make more sense.
And no, i dont like Led Zep either.

My favourite is Showbiz but I can sit there and listen to any album, they're all fantastic.

I don't like Radiohead at all though, although that might be because in my first year at uni all the emos used to sit in their rooms at halls cutting themselves and going on about how Radiohead "speaks to them in special ways".... :/

personally i dont like this band, they remind me of queen for some reason, which is probly the reason... all their songs seem to be quite sad and slow n just.. bleh! i guess i just prefer upbeat music!

although their bassist is UBER awesome! :)

Although the comparisons to Radiohead have been less since Absolution came out (I first heard Muse about 6 months before Absolution). The thing I like about Muse is that, particularly with their newer stuff, you get something different. For example, when I first heard Supermassive Black Hole I thought "wtf? This is Muse" but it grew on me and its one of my favourites :)

Have to agree with Bliss being the best, as it was the first Muse song I heard and it got me hooked instantly. Although Hysteria comes a very close second (with the Interlude ofc, build up the tension :D).

Been to see them 6 times now, including both nights at Wembley :) Hoping for a Glastonbury showing next year.

Plug in Baby isn't slow, neither is Cave or Newborn. In fact most of their songs aren't slow :\

It sounds like you've given up on them WAY too soon, before you've even heard their best songs

I agree that most of the songs are not the most upbeat, but slow? Have you not heard Bliss, Plug In Baby and Hysteria? (first three that came into my head).

And I won't have anyone bad-mouthing Unintended - its a great track and they should play it more often live.

I dunno why people get Radiohead involved in the Muse debate, they sound nothing like each other!

Because the NME said they sound the same. In 1998. Thom Yorke once said "Well, we both listened to too much Tom Waits" which I reckon sums it up, they've got some similiar influences and inspirations.

I once failed to go and see Muse play the Venue in Edinburgh in February 2000, because everyone said they sounded like Radiohead, and I'd decided I didn't like Radiohead. I actually went to the aftershow upstairs, but skipped the gig. Then that year I saw them at Reading and discovered that they were, in fact, amazing. Then shortly after that, it turned out that actually, so were Radiohead. Evidently I was fairly stupid in 1999 and early 2000.

What's the deal with the Dior adverts btw? I seem to remember Matt Bellamy spitting the dummy and suing Nescafe, and making a big deal about not selling out to advertisers (quoting Bill Hicks "You do a commercial, you're off the artistic roll-call forever. End of story")

Muse wear a lot of Dior clothes, maybe they have a deal?

Good live act (saw them at Glasto & Wembley this year) but I can't bring myself to listen to their albums, there's a few songs I like but in general nothing special.

I know most bands sound better live but surely Muse are the most extreme in terms of making average studio tracks sound amazing.
