Music production PC

Yes. Although I didn't get myself to use it much yet before I change my pc setup.

Last year after decades of single pedals and some top range multi pedals I bought the ToneX Pedal which I use on stage.
Last year IK did a buy one product and get 49 free so I bought a ToneX One for £130 and got around £10,000 worth of software free which includes all the Signature Collections.
Two weeks ago I bought an Airstep TX so I can control it better on stage because I have it at waist height to get at the main controls.

It doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm going without GPU in music production for years. Ram and CPU is the key. Some plugins and effects (like cab mirroring) are using resources of GPU to build it quicker but it's not a majorly draw resource.

What he's saying isn't necessarily wrong, but you're talking about the difference between someone doing this on the relatively lower end for personal use vs high end specialist studio setups.

I helped a friend of a friend build a DAW back in the mid-late 2010's, he was pretty clued in thank god and knew exactly what he wanted/needed so on my end it was simply suggesting components and aiding in the build (and he did necessitate a GPU). The machine ended up setting him back around the £10,000 mark, and I dread to think what that would be now when you consider inflation and price spikes on components.

That said, the guy worked in the movie industry or along those lines and wanted a work from home setup he could use when not at the office/studio. We're talking him synthesising full on orchestral tracks and all sorts of crazy stuff, so really not comparable to what (I assume) you're aiming for.

If he worked in the movie industry, it's understandable he needed good GPU. At the end he had to edit and attach the sound to the movie. It's already video editing domain and GPU is becoming crucial. The only situation I could need it, is if I'd try to capture the image of the sound of a particular cab onto toneX or cortex 2. It's building it like an image and using huge amount of data in stealth mode. That's where GPU would come useful to me. Everything else I do is CPU and RAM department
