Must have single player games?

I took Metro 2033 and The Fallouts with me when i was deployed back in 2010 and 2011

Easy to play and come back to if you get the odd hour every couple of days

Can't believe no one else has mentioned this war of mine and bastion. Two of the best games I've ever played. Both will run great on your laptop.

Every gamer should have these two games in their library. Hours of fun.

Well, beefed up the Steam library over the last few days! Should keep me going for many months to come! Cheers lads! Will also get all my mods before i deploy too! Again, many thanks!

How do gents,

Deplyoying in January for 6 months and i'm certain to have plenty of down time whilst away. I'll have my new laptop by then! Not decided with a model as such yet though i'll be likely to get one with a GTX970m Graphics card.

Can i get some oppinions of some single player games to keep me occupied?
All genres welcome!

Cheers!

If you can stretch yourself for a GTX 980M, that will give you very sweet and satisfactory performance.

...oh yeah, and be sure to take a lot of cracks for all your games. No internet, often means no gaming these days. Even Steam Offline mode will boot you out of your games if it doesn't get to phone home periodically.

Some cracking single player games:

Risen, Risen 2, and Risen 3 (up until a point)
Sleeping Dogs
MGSV
Dishonored
Bioshock Infinite (and the earlier ones)
Tomb Raider
Wolfenstein New Order

Batman Arkham Series - especially if you have a Xbox 360 pad.
Deus Ex - if you don't mind playing older games
System Shock 2 - get the HD textures and it's still fantastic
Fallout 3 - loved this game and wasted far too many hours on it
Skyrim - as above
Sleeping Dogs - often overlooked but a fantastic fun game
Dishonoured - another one that's overlooked - still a fantastic game
Beyond Good & Evil - 3rd person adventure game - cracking game in the mould of LBA 2
Dead Space Series - really enjoyed the first 2 before it become 'micro transaction' in the 3rd
Mass Effect Series - good story and you can take your characters all the way through the series with it
Alien Isolation - if you want to **** yourself then this is the game to do it - tense and then some
Max Payne 1/2 - the best in the series by far and a great storyline

Games I didn't like:

Deus Ex: HR - just cannot get into this - just a generic FPS to me
S.T.A.L.K.E.R - the weapons seem massively off from the start and it has a massive learning curve - it's okay if you can stick with it - I liked the World - it's just some of it is really poorly implemented
Max Payne 3 - the first 2 were fantastic and then it becomes a generic FPS - what a waste of an IP

Mass Effect
Bioshock 1, Infinite + Burial at Sea. 2 Really didn't do it for me.
System Shock 2
Witcher 3
Fallout 3
Alien Isolation
X-Com Enemy Unknown
Dragon Age Origins
Divinity Original Sin

The Binding Of Isaac Rebirth!

Incredibly replayable and great value for money. Don't bother with the original even if it's cheap, it's just the same as rebirth but worse (java).
