My boss's M6...

You have to feel sorry for the other fellow too though.. He's about to get stung (insurance wise) to the tune of a new M6..
i have a question about this. Does the value of your previous claim actually affect your next renewel. Eg if i wrote off a £80,000 car would my next renewel be more than if that car was only worth £20,000?
i have always thought not myself and that a claim was a claim regardless of cost but i often see people saying this. Can anyone who knows for certain (merlin) enlighten me?

No idea, but I'd guess the premium would remain the same between say a £10,000 accident and a £50,000 accident.

Insurers can sell the salvage on for quite a lot of money I should think - that will reduce the cost of the claim.

I'd love to see it again, mainly to see how well it held up. I don't even have an idea of the damage or what actually happened. :(

But still, if you're going to drive like a loon, bad things will happen. I've learnt from that. Just a shame this time it had to happen to a very nice car.

Thinking about it, it had less than 1000 miles on it.

He was going to get an M5

Oh, turns out he was drinking. He had a couple with his lunch, so if he was over the limit at all (he's a big guy) it would only be by a small amount.

I feel sorry for the guy, im quite liberal when it comes to having a drink and then driving, aslong as he wasnt over the limit by and significant amount. If hes a big guy i doubt he was.

Man, i prefer the M6 to the M5 and the M5 is a dream car. really sorry to hear another one is gone.

Limits a limit, so even if he was only just over thats still over, shocking!

Do we know he was over the limit yet? I was breathalised 30 minutes after 2 pints of Stella and was under 1/2 of the limit.

Let he who is without sin...

I reckon proper driver training should be given (around a track) when you buy powerful cars such as these.

Not sure if they still do it, but the E39 M5 certainly came with a day of high speed/track training thrown in.
