My Citizenship Journey

in b4 burnsy shipped back to where he came from.

Stop stealing our jerbs kthx.

That doesn't work in my circumstances. I was born in the UK, I was educated in the UK, I've worked in the UK all my life, I'm a sworn constable and I volunteer my time across the county. I have as much natural loyalty as anyone who was born as a citizen.

I only visited Germany for the first time around 4 years ago, and feel a connection with the UK much more than Germany although it does feel part of my heritage. I think the idea that you're loyal to only one nation is a bit outdated. Many people are dual nationals.

You were born in the UK yet need to get citizenship? wut

dusts off cobwebs

Just got home to a letter saying "congratulations Mrs Diddums, you're a pommy now"

All in all about two months and about £1500.

Losing Saffrican citizenship was a small price, that crap nationality has nothing to offer anymore sad as it is.

Suffice to say the mood at home right now is amazeballs, maybe I'll get a blowie out of it.

I wouldn't worry about Brexit, it would cost the UK so much money that the stay campaign will turn into a financial juggernaut which will wipe the floor with the other side.

Just saw this post from 2016 today, man, did we ever get that one wrong, unfortunately!
In the interest of full disclosure, I said something similar to what you said, to my Leaver wife.
