My Facebook page deleted today

I requested it to be completely deleted from their servers and you need to wait 2 weeks. Today my Facebook page is gone, deleted forever.

The reasons for this were mainly getting fed up with all the stupid updates from people (I don't care you love your b/f g/f the mostest in the the whole world, your kids just as clever as anyone elses, I don't care what you're having for dinner e.t.c) and having 'friends' on my friends list. The whole thing seemed a bit pointless in the end. This coupled with Facebook owning everything I put on it I thought it's time to go and start living my life in the real world with actual contact with people (I was never much of a facebooker anyway). Any events I'll miss people will talk to me about anyway.

So, who's with me? lets get the ball rolling.

No one cares.

Indeed. People harp on about how they are free from the inane ramblings of people they at least vaguely know, but then spend their time reading the inane ramblings of a bunch of strangers on this and probably other forums.

To be fair, this place is a damned sight more entertaining than random "OMG LOOK AT MY BABIES! VALIDATE MY REPRODUCTIVE CHOICES!!!!!" updates and stuff...

Block people who post such drivel, much like the ignore function on here.

Don't blame facebook for you knowing annoying people and not filtering them out.

Corrected it for you :)
:

You're a little deluded aren't you. It's a tool, that can be used in many different ways. Just like any other thing in life. People write stupid texts to each other all the time. Yet you aren't calling that to be banned and that they don't have any friends as they only text stupid pointless stuff.
Oh yeah forgot its cool to hate and people can't think for themselves and use a tool sensibly rather than what the masses do.

I can't believe the stupidity of some people in this thread who haven't got a clue how to use Facebook.
As soon as the icon is clicked it's as though they're trapped in a world where they have to click and read every status and look at every picture.
Mind you we have idiots on here who will post 'Please delete this thread' or 'Why isn't this thread closed yet?' because they are incapable of not clicking on it.
To me Facebook and OCUK are no different except for the major fact I actually know people on Facebook so they are more relevant to my life.
Now I don't know if I'm doing it right but every 3 days I will log onto Facebook, I'll have a very quick look at the 3 icons with requests & messages BUT DON'T READ THEM ALL.
I then very quickly scroll down the HEADERS of NEW POSTS and I do this very quickly with only the odd thread catching my eye.
I do exactly the same thing with OCUK because I actually have the willpower not to click on every thread and sometimes I may read a thread and decide I'm not going to read anymore without asking a Mod to delete it.
I find Facebook'ing and OCUK'ing very easy peasy but I have willpower.

Everybody look upon Dimple as the beacon of human existance.

It's really sad that people don't know how to do this and have to read EVERY post on there.

Obviously, if I can make Facebook not annoying then everybody else can.

Congratulations OP, if only there was somewhere online where you could make such an announcement to your friends too rather than randoms who don't care on a forum.

I sometimes wish Facebook would altogether "disappear", but... it does cost less than texting/ringing (which will never go away) and is far more straight forward than emailing especially when sharing photos... so a great communication tool... The thing i do hate about Facebook is when FB changes the privacy settings... if i tag someone in a photo i don't necessarily want it to be visable to my friend's friends i.e. my non friends/nosy buggers... :( I did deactivate my FB account for a month (without realising i did it on April Fool's haha!!) which meant i spent far few wasted hours nosying about at erm... nothing!! ...however, i don't think i could permanently delete my account for fear of being forgotten...?!!!! :D

You can select privacy settings for photos. You can also go into settings and change your default settings. I've changed pretty much everything to either friends only or friends of friends as default.

I'll have to try this again... i thought i'd set it to friends only, but for some reason if you tag a friend in a picture all of the friends on their list can see it too (found this out when a non friend commented on my photo ) I'm sure it never used to be like this... back in the day... :(

It annoys me that I keep getting recommended friends, and that you can't turn this panel off. If I wanted to add people...I would add them.

I hate that news ticker thing. There is no way to prevent your posts from showing up on it. Even if you select for all your comments on others walls/likes to be visible to yourself/person involved, they show up in that damn ticker to all your friends. Annoying.
