quite a few fans or the xr's in here it seems one of the members on here (Colin iirc) has/had a tidy xrt having owned one myself its an interesting expecierence,

OPs should fly with 138bhp @ the wheels in somethign that weighs the same as a bean tin :)

Car is going to JP Exhausts in Macclesfield on March 1st to get a new exhaust better suited to a 2 litre engine, then its going to AB Garage in Cheshire end of March for a pair of Newman PH3 cams fitted and rolling roaded again. Should see 155bhp at the wheels.

Nothing wrong with a CVH, good strong engines, just cheaper to get high power from a Zetec E.
I am tempted to eventually swap to the Omex Throttle body kit, you get most of the money back selling the bike carb kit. But i love the way bike carbs drive, so much better than the webbers i have had before.

I had one in my Fiesta, the rare 1.3 version and it was noisy and the cam belt failed and damaged the internals. They were prone to cam belt failiure and were also quite tempremental to the type of petrol you ran too.

The belts snapped because the ford service interval was too long.

My RS Turbo's & XR3i's ran happily on whatever I put in them! :o;)

Chronic Vibration & Harshness is what the CHV stood for, but they are strong, if looked after, which many were not.

1.3 CVH in a Mk2 was indeed rare! I seem to remember Ford ran a small fleet of mobile testbed Mk1s with CVH engines before rolling them out officially in the Mk2.
