Hi Guys,

Thanks to my thread in general hardware: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18579430

I've now purchased my parts and OCUK have just sent me an e-mail dispatch note :) Just posting this thread now so it's ready for tomorrow when I start the build.

This is my first build and will be documenting it with images hopefully as I go, to help other people with their first build too. Hopefully it goes straight forward and I don't have too many issues.

At a later date I plan to upgrade fans to corsairs for the colored rings (spray paint rings orange), add orange cables and maybe get some white led's to make the window pop. For now though, focusing on the parts :)

Will hopefully update you all tommorow when the parcel arrives guys.

First hiccup... no stand offs for the motherboard :/ checked case and motherboard boxes and nout :/

You should have a box of screws and other bits inside the PC case? Don't think the mobo will come with any.

Plus I noticed something missing in the pic of your delivery...where dem Haribos?

;)

EDIT: Looking at the pictures of your case you don't need standoffs, the mounting points are already raised off the tray

Yeah all good - I did take a look at the pics and edited my comment just after posting it!

WOT NO HARIBO? Send the lot back mate! The taste of Haribo Tangfastics is now synonymous with building computers for me

hehe

Ok guys so pretty much finished with the build now (Plenty of pics dont worry)

Last step practically now and i'm connecting everything to PSU. I then discovered this...

screenshot windows 7

At first I thought it was weird the manuals first langauge wasn't English but now i'm greeted with this!? Looks like I can't test my PC tonight.

Why is OCUK selling to the UK market PSU supplies that don't even have native plugs? Unless i'm being stupid... i see no converter.

I've found a convertor in Argos I can pick up. But it states 13Amp... no idea if that will be ok for PSU or not. Advice would be appreciated.

Yep will be fine, 13 amp is max for a standard UK mains socket. Would be better just to get the whole lead though? You should have one in your house somewhere - eg TV, kettle etc... They are all standard leads

Ocuk usually send an additional UK one with superflower psu's so raise a webnote and they will post you one for sure

EDIT: The official name for the cable you need is 3-pin IEC C13, more commonly known as 'kettle' leads

If thats the case and I can use any 'similar' cable then ill pull the one off my existing Dell for now. Thanks mate. Hopefully it works. Was about to headplant a wall then as pretty much finished ha.

I've got a feeling my last bag of Haribo wasn't tangfastics, but starmix. The free components they threw in with it made up for it though.

Impressive looking collection of parts anyway, looking forward to seeing the pics, hope all is going well :)
