Hi Guys,

Thanks to my thread in general hardware: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18579430

I've now purchased my parts and OCUK have just sent me an e-mail dispatch note :) Just posting this thread now so it's ready for tomorrow when I start the build.

This is my first build and will be documenting it with images hopefully as I go, to help other people with their first build too. Hopefully it goes straight forward and I don't have too many issues.

At a later date I plan to upgrade fans to corsairs for the colored rings (spray paint rings orange), add orange cables and maybe get some white led's to make the window pop. For now though, focusing on the parts :)

Will hopefully update you all tommorow when the parcel arrives guys.

Ok guys so pretty much finished with the build now (Plenty of pics dont worry)

Last step practically now and i'm connecting everything to PSU. I then discovered this...

screenshot windows 7

At first I thought it was weird the manuals first langauge wasn't English but now i'm greeted with this!? Looks like I can't test my PC tonight.

Why is OCUK selling to the UK market PSU supplies that don't even have native plugs? Unless i'm being stupid... i see no converter.

If thats the case and I can use any 'similar' cable then ill pull the one off my existing Dell for now. Thanks mate. Hopefully it works. Was about to headplant a wall then as pretty much finished ha.

Thanks for all the message guys. Build now complete.

It looks like this 'kettle lead' problem is widespread as the monitor was also European! Luckilly pulled wire off my old monitor (minus the power brick which looks like my new monitor does't need).

Looks like it boots up fine. Only issue is Monitor saying 'bios been reset' which im guessing is normal. Going to proceed later on with drivers as my head is banging at the moment. Food then back at it! H80i by far casued the most issues! Hopefully worth it.

Pictures to come soon but here is a teaser:

If I'm honest I thought it would look smarter than this but hopefully once I add the orange highlights at a later date it looks better. Annoyingly the orange on the sapphire card doesnt match board / ram but think I can live with this. Just the perfectionist in me. Card also seems so big that it dips at the end, doesn't look perfectly straight to the eye.

Might see if i can pick up some orange paint at some point then. Adding orange circles to h80i and exhaust fan in roof you see. Case is really dark too so some led strip lights me thinks.

Will get some more pics live tomoz with a proper host ha. Can get them live using my new computer hopefully :) just installing windows now! Still expecting something to go bang for some reason!

Yer danny, the other side of the PSU is awesome looking but i want the fan to be at the bottom tbh. PSU also emits white lights where the modular cables connect which is super annoying and something i wasnt aware of. This with the wrong power cable just makes me hate this part of the build. Ill live with it though.

One question on the H80i, i cant get corsair link software to pick it up and it seems the fans are running full speed (really loud!) i did a google and apparently h80i and corsair link not 8.1 compatible. Anyone know a decent away around this that actually works?

So I left my new PC on overnight to see what the idle temperatures are like:

Looking pretty good?

Not sure why the GPU is saying 'R9 200' instead of 'R9 290' but will look into this tonight. Going to do all the regular first installs and then play about in bios, see what I can find. Will also upload more pictures tonight guys.

Ah man unlucky! You ALWAYS get both plugs with monitors at least! OCUK will send you 2 for sure - they probly buy them in for 50p each or something.

I'm not sure about the advice re fuse - never check them myself but perhaps he will get back to you with an explanation.

They put them in the post today :) First class so hopefully get them soon.

I messaged support today and they were shocked no UK kettle lead and said they would include in all future orders with the same PSU and sent me one out today so looks like issue is rectified.

Now they just need to get some more haribo in it seems!

Seem's OCUK has phased out haribo then! Least I know i wasn't getting bad treatment on my first order lol.

Sorry about pics guys been mega busy. Planning on this weekend!

Temps look excellent mate. The software is referring to the R9 200 'series' of cards which your 290 is part of - this is normal and you will find other softwares show this too.

Hey Walder,

Initially I had the H80i as sucking air in, i've now changed this to exhaust (due to new fans currently on order) and the temps are looking even more healthy - despite me lowering fan RPM due to noise:

Exhaust recommended from me for H80i if you have the correct airflow in case!
